Brushvox – Lovageddon Suicide, remixes (2012)

Featuring 13 remixes of some well-known artists such as Blood On The Dance Floor, Chester French, Dynasty Electric, Chrystian, Ca$hin’ Out, Matisyahu, Byzant At Sunset, Daniel Bedingfield, Civil Twilight, Serj Tankian and Cypress Hill, “Lovageddon Suicide” it’s the new collection of completely re-shaped and own-flavored remixes by Brushvox.
This time in the first half are featuring the more dance/club oriented tracks, but this is still quite an underground taste-like, self-labeled Doomstep, and not that fancy, trend-rider Dubstep which is so-pushed by the media lately.
The second half, including 3 Civil Twilight, and one of each, Serj Tankian, respectively Cypress Hill remixes are even further experimental and dark takes on the originals.
Actually, most of these so-called remixes have very little to do (amd share) with the originals and are mainly completely different re-interpretations of the originals using mostly exclusively the vocal track from them.

Mr. Pan[k]sament – Doomstep Prophecies – The Remixes (2012) FREE DOWNLOAD!

Remixing isn’t a good business and generally speaking remixers are mainly disconsidered. Half way between sound engineers and musicians, remixers are doomed. If you deliver a better track then the original, the artist will definitively hate you. A friend of mine, Bluetrax explains it precisely: “See, the perfect world of music works like this: if you have a weak production, the remix cannot by any means be better than your original. so, for you as a remixer it’s a waste of time trying to get the best out of you. just try to please the world with some more senseless crap. anyway, that’s how it works most of the time. that’s why so many musicians have to fight for their rights and their money šŸ˜‰ ”
I lost the numbers on the way, don’t know exactly how many remixes I did this year – already. Many. Probably too many. Here we go, 30 new tracks, FREE DOWNLOAD – in return, eventually you can vote for some of the contests I’m still in: Matisyahu, Kimbra, The Temper TrapĀ  and Jason Mraz. Thanks – appreciate it! Hod [Splendor]

“Hod (“Majesty”; הוד) in the Kabbalah of Judaism is the eighth sephira of the Kabbalistic tree of life. It is derived from hod הוד in the Hebrew language meaning “majesty” or “splendor” and denoting “praise” as well as “submission”.
Hod sits below Gevurah and across from Netzach in the tree of life; Yesod is to the south-east of Hod. It has four paths, which commonly lead to Gevurah, Tiphereth, Netzach, and Yesod.
All the sephirot are likened to different parts of the body, and netzach and hod are likened to the two feet of a person: right foot and left foot. Feet are usually only the means for a person’s activity. While the hands are the main instrument of action, the feet bring a person to the place where he wishes to execute that action.
Hasidic Judaism’s view of Hod is that it is connected with Jewish prayer. Prayer is seen as form of “submission”; Hod is explained as an analogy – that instead of “conquering” an obstacle in one’s way, (which is the idea of Netzach), subduing oneself to that “obstacle” is related to the quality of Hod. IAMEVE – Throw Me A Line – Only the Wicked [Remix]

When everything is gray and predictable, prophecies are pointless. When life becomes routine, we don’t need crystal balls anymore to see the future and Magic fades away and dies. When we’ve got social networks, we can forget about real life… “Throw Me A Line” – my first intercourse with IAMEVE – sounds like an exile on planet Earth. Tiff Randol is half way between Kate Bush and Tori Amos while her music was best described by The Huffington Post as ā€œif Alice took Ziggy Stardustā€™s hand and followed him down the rabbit hole to a world guided by the twists and turns of Randolā€™s ethereal and colorful vocalsā€. Randol is hypnotizing, she have the Magic.
IAMEVEā€™s debut album, “The Everything Nothing” is a 12-song concept album which explores the journey of Eve Ami from self-destruction to self-love. She explains: “We live in a world encumbered by a desire for instant gratification. Patience is a virtue that has been discarded by many of us pursuing big ideas, dreams, and love, often skewing our perspective with sensory overload. We are addicted to the next ping, beep, vibration, fix, or passing fancy. And none of this is a bad thing. I think the Universe is in a constant state of balancing itself. And that must be whatā€™s happening now. Read more IAMEVE – Throw Me A Line – Only the Wicked [Remix]

Not Your Fault [Mad About U RMX] – AWOLNATION remix contest

When I had listen for the very first time this track, the first thought of mine was The Stranglers. Then the chorus kicked in and it was like Green Day raging. What a challenge!
AWOLNATION, is an American indie pop band, formed and fronted by Aaron Bruno, formerly of Under the Influence of Giants, Hometown Hero and Insurgence. The band is signed to Red Bull Records and now the label push them hard as hell. Part of the promotion of their album “Megalithic Symphony” released last year in March is this Indaba remix contest.
I wasn’t sure about this till the last minute and I put this mix together in the last few hours, kept the original drum track, but filtered through EQ because I felt like the highs were pretty messy and even distorted, and I did some radical vocal editing and vocoding. The result is somewhere between The Kraftwerk, The Damned and… very twisted Skrillex on highly dangerous dopes… šŸ˜† Read more Not Your Fault [Mad About U RMX] – AWOLNATION remix contest

With the Pieces – Lights Resolve Remix Contest

If the music industry wouldn’t killed me with the dumping and overdose of mediocre products last year, more aggressively then ever, “Feel Youā€™re Different”, the debut album of this NY based trio, definitively would made it to the list of my favorite albums of 2011. Unfortunately I didn’t have the chance last year to listen it, fortunately I have it now. Indaba and (probably) the band offered their track “With the Pieces” to be remixed. The first thing which stroked me was the excellent sound. Produced/engineered/mixed by Mike Sapone and mastered by Emily Lazar & Joe LaPorta, the track – and the album – sounds awesome! Intense and clean, groovy and cutting, really-really rocks! The song is also great, have some killer verses, pounding drums, a murderous bass-line and huge vocals. Honestly and… actually I did not felt like it need to be remixed at all. But! Read more With the Pieces – Lights Resolve Remix Contest

Rufus Wainwright – Bitter Tears and… Glitter Fears

Not a fan of Rufus, actually this remix contest is the first collision of mine with his music. Indaba Music and Rufus wanted a remix of “Bitter Tears”, one of the new songs featuring on the upcoming seventh studio album, “Out of the Game”, scheduled for release in the United Kingdom and Canada in April 2012 and in the United States in May 2012 through Decca Records/Polydor Records. I find the song interesting, but pretty dense and when I almost gave up on this one, I had a last moment inspiration and twist this song into my own. Well, while they stated that “put your personal spin on this captivating tune” this might actually work. I kept the things pretty simple and straight, knocked my self out having fun with some naughty delays and build-up a noisy, contorted kind of chorus, so this song is actually another song.
Please listen, have fun and VOTE if you really love what you’ll gonna hear. Read more Rufus Wainwright – Bitter Tears and… Glitter Fears

Janis Joplin – Pearl Sessions and Move Forward RMX

Three months after she died on October 4, 1970, on January 11, 1971, Columbia Records released “Pearl”, the only album Joplin ever recorded with the Full Tilt Boogie Band, the touring ensemble that had backed her on the Festival Express. Peaking at #1 on the Billboard 200, a position it held for nine weeks, Pearl included some of Janis’s most familiar and best-loved performances including her cover of Kris Kristofferson’s “Me and Bobby McGee” and her off-the-cuff a cappella “Mercedes Benz.”
The Janis Joplin’s 69th Birthday is honored by Legacy Recordings with the releasing of “The Pearl Sessions”, a two-CD set of Joplin’s final studio recordings.
The Pearl Sessions brings together, for the first time in one package, the original mono versions of the album’s 45s alongside the original LP tracks as well as the revelatory newly-discovered alternate versions, outtakes and vocal takes of Pearl’s classic tracks. The recording were discovered when researchers were putting together material for a 40th anniversary edition of “Pearl”, and find a previously uncatalogued audio tapes from the album’s sessions, produced by Paul Rothschild.
