Alice Scooter – Hurt 2018 (originally by NIN, free download)

Alice Scooter Hurt (originally by Nine Inch Nails)

Alice Scooter Hurt (originally by Nine Inch Nails)

“Hurt” is a song by American industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails from their second studio album, The Downward Spiral (1994), written by Trent Reznor.
The song includes references to self-harm and heroin addiction, although the overall meaning of the song is disputed. Some listeners contend that the song acts as a suicide note written by the song’s protagonist, as a result of his depression, while others claim that it describes the difficult process of finding a reason to live in spite of depression and pain and does not have much to do with the storyline. Faith No More – Sol Invictus (2015)

Faith No More - Sol Invictus (2015)

Faith No More - Sol Invictus (2015) “We will do something again only when all members are with the focus on that, and ready for the challenge” – said Billy Gould In July 2013. Two years later and 18 years since the previous FNM studio album we’ve got finally “Sol Invictus”. Meanwhile Mr. Patton was king not for one day, but on several occasions, last time on the Zorn’s Moonchild album “The Last Judgement” in 2014, but also on the “The Song Project Vinyl Singles Edition” by the same and restless downtown alchemist, Zorn.
Although it’s been a lifetime since “Album of the Year”, it’s the same line-up as last time. Guitarist Jon Hudson it’s part of the family now although there will be always fans expecting Jim Martin back. Just to sweeten things up a little bit, “Superhero” have some Martin-flavored solid and heavy guitar riffs.
I’m excited about this new album, but also scared of. I should sit back and enjoy the music, not to have any kind of expectation, but it’s difficult!
Seven is a Magick number and the title, “Sol Invictus” have some ceremonial vibe as well, so “Unconquered Sun” set the target high… as the Sun. Read more Faith No More – Sol Invictus (2015) ›

Marilyn Manson – The Pale Emperor (2015)

Marilyn Manson - The Pale Emperor (2015)

Marilyn Manson - The Pale Emperor (2015) Scheduled to be released on January 20, 2015 in the US, but already leaked out to the internet, the much anticipated, ninth in line, studio album by one of the most feared, targeted and blamed artists, Marilyn Manson it’s here. Are you ready to meet your maker?
Age 45, born Brian Hugh Warner, but better known as Marilyn Manson are manage to reinvent himself and his music each and every time. “The Pale Emperor” pick up where “Born Villain” left off in 2012, and The Pale Emperor is a much calmer, grown up and cynical character then the outrageous and furious Anti-Christ Superstar was back in 1996. Probably some of you guys will miss those massive, bone-cutting riffs and unstoppable industrial metal hurricanes like “The Beautiful People” or “Irresponsible Hate Anthem”, but this post-rock/post-metal melange of bitterness and muted revolt reflects who is Marilyn Manson now. Looking back won’t bring back that energy and feeling or his former band mates.
The current line up it’s made of old and constant brother in arms bassist Twiggy Ramirez, music producer, film music composer and guitarist Tyler Bates and drummer Gil Sharone of Stolen Babies.
And “The Pale Emperor” it’s quite film-like, don’t judge the (ob)scenes – tracks – separately, but think about the bigger picture, the whole album instead. Read more Marilyn Manson – The Pale Emperor (2015) ›

EtHERSENS – Your wandering ghost (2014)

Posted on February 4, 2014 by brushvox — No Comments ↓
EtHERSENS Your wandering ghost 2014

EtHERSENS Your wandering ghost 2014 Progressive metal became pretty much synonymous with Dream Theater. It’s probably not fair, but it’s a fact. EtHERSENS it’s a French progressive metal project and “Your wandering ghost” it’s their second album after considerable a six year gap.
While the opening, almost 10 minutes long “Two For One Mind” evoke the mentioned Dream Theater spirit and it’s an intense and powerful progressive metal hurricane, the following “Same Goodbye” merge some dark, shoegaze flavored atmosphere and ambiances with the classy Porcupine Tree flavor. Another name which came up in my mind was Pain Of Salvation.
So, this is not a one track-mind type of band and not a one track type of album. And the album it’s intense and colorful throughout, make the listener to listen, keep the interest alive from riff to riff, from break to break. They not only created a positive tension and expectation, but delivered exciting, quality music. Give it a shot! Songs like “Livin’ Memory” will definitively ringing in your ears and will make you wanna listen more! Read more EtHERSENS – Your wandering ghost (2014) ›

Michel Anoia – Michel Anoia (2013)

Posted on April 11, 2013 by brushvox — No Comments ↓

Michel Anoia Michel Anoia 2013 In a world of senseless violence a to the bone brutal album actually make sense. And beneath the surface, Michel Anoia it’s more then simple and pure brutality. Merging some killer and chill jazz breaks, slow grinding and doom flavored passages and complex, technical moments with brutal, grindcore rooted death metal, Michel Anoia offers a 30 minutes (almost) non-stop hell of a ride. This is the ultimate death metal roller-coaster.
The sound of the recording it’s raw, unpolished, ideal rehearsal type of, but it’s just the perfect, live and alive, breathing and kicking sound for this kind of music. Very convincing. And the song – the 29:24 minutes butchery – it’s flawless. Smartly build up, naturally flowing, with excellent breaks and moments for breathing, technically brilliant, intense and brutal throughout. Fans of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Between the Buried and Me, The Conjuration and generally, of those brutal, but colourful, bold and experimental metal bands will be delighted and definitively satisfied.
Best of all, it’s for free, you can grab it from their Bandcamp page and share it away!!
They also made 100 limited DIY CDs, so contact them if you want your Free Price CD at: michelquartet@gmail.com

No Sun in San Francisco – Principles & particles (2013)

Posted on March 25, 2013 by brushvox — No Comments ↓

Very dark, very raw, technical and merciless, No Sun in San Francisco aren’t an American band, but a Swiss one and most of their debut album was recorded far away from the sunlight, down in an anti-nuclear shelter lost somewhere in Switzerland’s countryside. Without hanging tags, their sounds like a sick mixture of Neurosis, Isis, Converge, Cult of Luna and Meshuggah.
This new post-everything, but metal rooter scene it’s growing pretty fast, getting bigger and the Swiss scene seems to be one of the strongest. Impossible to label them, to define a genre, No Sun in San Francisco get inspired from the raw and contorted black metal butcheries up to complex and technical extreme metal, and form psychedelic and progressive flavors to shogazer contemplations. Unpolished, furious grinding to the ground passages are followed by quiet, still dark, but strangely beautiful, calm passages only to explode again with killer riffs and blood spitting deadly vocals. Terra Tenebrosa – The Purging (2013)

Posted on March 6, 2013 by brushvox — No Comments ↓

Dark metal could not get darker and further into the hidden and tenebrous conscience and sub-conscience of the sick and twisted human soul and mind.
“The Purging” continues where the critically acclaimed and Manifest Award nominated debut album, “The Tunnels” left off in 2011. Eventually this is going more wicked and gloomy that its predecessor.
Terra Tenebrosa it’s definitively one of the most experimental and most bold metal acts of Sweden, but also one of the most interesting avant-garde acts that pushing the envelope and widening the horizon. Not an easy listening, not really friendly and definitively not for everybody, but once you get into the atmosphere of it, reveals unexpected dimensions and colors. ZEUS! – Opera (2013)

Posted on February 27, 2013 by brushvox — No Comments ↓

Luca Cavina (Calibro 35, Craxi, Incident on South Street) : distorted Bass and Vocals and Paolo Mongardi (Fuzz Orchestra, Ronin, FulKanelli, ex-Jennifer Gentle) : distorted Drums, started this project in October 2010, aiming at “using the minimum in order to get the maximum and is: not metal, not punk, not math, not noise, not prog, absolutely not jazz-core, neither post-whatever” – as they firmly declared.
Althrough this is a quite rough and tumultous adventure out of most people’s musical and lyrical comfort zone, this is definitively a genuine and creative act of art, something actually (and unfortunately) damn rare these days. Read more ZEUS! – Opera (2013) ›
