Echancrure – Discours sur le colonialisme, EP (2012)

Aimé Fernand David Césaire (26 June 1913 – 17 April 2008) was a French poet, author and politician from Martinique, being “one of the founders of the négritude movement in Francophone literature”. In 1945, with the support of the French Communist Party, Césaire was elected mayor of Fort-de-France and deputy to the French National Assembly for Martinique. He was one of the principal drafters of the 1946 law on departmentalizing former colonies, a role for which independentist politicians have often criticized him.
Like many left intellectuals in France, Césaire looked in the 1930s and 1940s toward the Soviet Union as a source of human progress, virtue, and human rights, but Césaire later grew disillusioned with Communism. In 1956, after the Soviet Union’s suppression of the Hungarian revolution, Aimé Césaire announced his resignation from the PCF in a text entitled “Lettre à Maurice Thorez”. In 1958 he founded the Parti Progressiste Martiniquais.
His writings during this period reflect his passion for civic and social engagement. He wrote “Discours sur le colonialisme” (Discourse on Colonialism) in 1950, a denunciation of European colonial racism, decadence, and hypocrisy that was republished in the French review Présence Africaine in 1955.

Gary Numan – Dead Son Rising (2011)

The wizard is back and only after a few moments of listening to “Dead Son Rising” it was pretty obvious this will be one of the finest albums of the year and definitively one favorite. Surprisingly – or not quite – Numan sounds a little bit “Reznorish”, the blueprint of Nine Inch Nails are present all over the album and the (good) student have now some influence on his master, but all those elements are melt into the typical Numan’s constructions and sounds.
Five years after the brilliant “Jagged”, on “Dead Son Rising” Numan collaborate with the same Ade Fenton – producer and co-written. The title track is a reworked version of “What Have I Become” and “We Are The Lost” is a reworked version of “Mercy” and both are from the 2006 “Jagged” sessions, “For The Rest Of My Life” is a reworked version of “Always” and “The Fall” is a reworked version of “Look”, both from the 2000 “Pure” sessions. “Big Noise Transmission” was previously played live under the working title “Captured Underground Noise Transmission” and “Zulu” while “When The Sky Bleeds, He Will Come” had the live working title of “Dragging Loop”. Ikon – In the Shadow of the Angel (2011)

In the mirage of Joy Division and The Sisters Of Mercy, preserving their inheritance, Australia’s Ikon are for twenty years in the spotlight, has achieved an international fanbase and critical acclaim. Originally released in 1994, their brilliant debut album now it’s see the light once again, re-issues and remastered and filled with some previously unreleased tracks.
Chris McCarter (vocals, guitar, programming) and Dino Molinaro (bass) began to write songs as high school students in 1988, inspired by their love of alternative music. In 1991, the original band name Death in the Dark was replaced by IKON. Michael Carrodus, the band’s original singer, joined them in creating the first two albums “In the Shadow of the Angel” (1994) and “Flowers for the Gathering” (1996). She Wants Revenge – Valleyheart (2011)

Having a deep and dark Depeche Mode after-taste, the Americans from She Wants Revenge are back with their third studio album after a four years gap. “Valleyheart” with its ten brand new songs holds the same Depeche Mode marks, it’s a gloomy, minimalist, but vibrating material with a typical/traditional British taste. “Must Be the One”, the leading single it’s available for free download on the band’s Facebook page. Justin Warfield – vocals, guitar, keyboards and Adam Bravin (aka Adam 12) – bass guitar, keyboards, guitar, drum machine, percussion, programming, vocals get their musical roots and inspiration in bands such Joy Division, but also Depeche Mode, New Order, Bauhaus, Danse Society and the darker areas explored by The Sisters of Mercy. ANBB – Mimikry (2010)

Numele lui Hans Christian Emmerich aka Blixa Bargeld poate sună familiar celor care cunosc şi apreciază formaţia Einstürzende Neubauten, dar Blixa a colaborat şi cu Nick Cave. Asta ar fi „bb”-ul. Partea de început cu „an” vine de la Carsten Nicolai aka Alva Noto şi pe lângă alte proiecte este membrul formaţiei Signal.
„Mimikry” este primul produs rezultat din colaborarea celor doi şi înainte de a fi avut informaţiile din spatele materialului, m-a atras coperta. Apoi ascultând discul mi-a plăcut piesa „Once Again”. E drăguţ-misterios şi cover-ul la „One” al lui Harry Nilsson, piesă prelucrată de nenumăraţi artişti, versiunea care deocamdată bate toate celelalte aparţinând celor din Filter.

Umbra et Imago – Opus Magnus (2010)

Într-o prea frumoasă zi de sâmbătă, pe 20 februarie, la Silver Church au venit cu un show incendiar cei din Umbra et Imago, am pomenit atunci de eveniment, dar nu mai ştiu ce m-a ţinut departe de spectacol. Ascultând proaspătul „Opus Magnus” oarecum regret absenţa mea de la acel concert, Umbra et Imago dincolo de show-ul erotic cu accente BDSM (Bondage & Discipline, Dominance & Submission, Sadism & Masochism), fac muzică, muzică de calitate. 11 piese plus un bonus („Wanderers Nachtlied”), noul Umbra et Imago este un material întunecat, o combinaţie extrem de nimerită între tendinţele Neue Deutsche Härte impuse în primul rând de Rammstein şi notele tradiţionale de Gothic Metal cu iz teuton.
Mozart (Manuel Munz) – voce, frumoasa Madeleine Le Roy – voce şi show, basistul Lutz Demmler, bateristul Michael „Migge” Schwarz şi chitaristul Sascha au reuşit să imprime un disc rotund, echilibrat, colorat şi foarte bine produs.
Dacă trecem peste balada obsesivă, laitmotivul NDH, „Ohne Dich” ce deschide albumul, riff-urile consistente, clapele îmbietoare, vocea gravă al lui Mozart şi partiturile muzicale sofisticate ale Madelinei ne călăuzesc într-o lume incitantă, bine nuanţată şi solid construită.

Pomeneam ieri legat de albumul Kidneythieves de Shikhee, vestea bună e că noul material Android Lust „The Human Animal” urmează să fie lansat în data de 10 august şi tot ieri aminteam şi de Unter Null, al treilea lor album, „Moving On” a fost lansat în februarie de Alfa Matrix, dar în avalanşa de discuri cumva n-am apucat la acel moment să scriu despre el.
„Sub Zero” (Unter Null în limba germană) este proiectul lui Erica Dunham (născută la Seattle) pornit în 1998 şi explorează o zonă Electro experimentală cu sonorităţi de la EBM la Power Noise, dar include şi secvenţe Chill, Trip şi Trance.
Nu doar numele are rezonanţă germană, stilul, abordarea este destul de nemţească, muzica are ca fundament sonorităţile EBM europene însă tocmai amintitele secvenţe de escapadă într-o zonă experimentală, pasajele mai lente şi de atmosferă o diferenţiază, o salvează pe Erica din zona gri, relativ monotonă şi repetitivă a sutelor, miilor de proiecte de acest tip. Tot un plus aduc şi ruperile, incursiunile în extrema opusă, momentele Noise, distorsiunile zgomotoase.

Rudolf “Rudy” Ratzinger a fost ani de zile un DJ bavarez apreciat, activ în segmentul Goth-Dark-Industrial. Impresionat şi influenţat de Leæther Strip, Rudy decide în 1991 să pornească un proiect muzical personal şi astfel ia naştere Wumpscut şi imediat este lansat şi materialul de debut „Defcon”.
Rudy se dovedeşte extrem de prolific, materialele curg unul după celălalt, atât discuri ce conţin piese noi cât şi o serie de remixuri. De pomenit: „Small Chambermusicians” care este scos în acelaşi an urmat de „Music for a Slaughtering Tribe” (1993), „Bunkertor 7”, „Preferential Legacy” şi „The Mesner Tracks” în 1995, „Born Again” (1997), „Embryodead” (1997), „Boeses Junges Fleisch” (1999), „Blutkind” (2000), „Wreath of Barbs” (2001), „Evoke” (2005), „Body Census” (2007).
