While I have wrote about their debut EP “Bag of Bones” back in 2009, recently I wrote about Massive and their ass-kicker world-wide re-released debut album “Full Throttle” and it seems that the good old rock’n’roll it’s back in trends again. Well, probably it’s still not fancy as the electronic layers and bass drops, but I still can’t think of something better if you gonna have a party!
Fans of AC/DC and Massive will enjoy it, but it also have a nice glam/sleaze touch here and there. Sometimes feels like Poison and Motorhead are jamming together. We can speak about what’s going on in Ferguson, Missouri, or we can look at what happened in Frisco, Texas where a 16-year-old homeschooled teenager shot down both his parents. And – unfortunately – we’ve got plenty of other stories on daily basics each and every day from all over the world.
King 810 make out of violence a kind of trademark and marketing strategy. Recently they had to cancel their gig at Download Festival because vocalist David Gunn and bassist Eugene Gill, were arrested and taken into custody on Friday on charges of “assault with intent to do great bodily harm” – for an incident occurred in October 2013, outside of a bar in Flint, MI. All because of a stupid fight and, eventually, publicity.

Rock is dead? I heard that in the 80’s, the 90’s and generally, at least once in a while somebody took that imaginary shovel and start digging that imaginary hole for this genre. And – surprise! – the genre it’s alive, kicking and evolving since the late 40’s.
You say “Godsmack”, you think of Alice In Chains and you start singing “Voodoo”. That self-titled 1998 album which contain that song entered the Billboard 200 at number twenty-two, and was certified 4x platinum by the RIAA in 2001 after being initially certified gold in 1999.
The next album, “Awake” debuted at number five on the Billboard 200, and has been certified 2x platinum by the RIAA. “Vampires”, a song on the album, also earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 2002. Two of the songs – “Sick of Life” and “Awake” – on the album were used in United States Navy commercials as background music.

Kongsberg, a town located at the southern end of the traditional region of Numedal, is perhaps best known for being the home of Norway’s major defence contractor, Kongsberg Gruppen, formerly Kongsberg Vaapenfabrikk. Two of its well known products were the Kongsberg Colt and the Krag-Jørgensen rifle. The latter was adopted in the late 19th century as the standard army rifle in Denmark, Norway and U.S.A.
Notable, since 1964, the town has hosted Kongsberg Jazzfestival, an annual international jazz festival where prominent world acts such as BB King, Diana Krall, Ornette Coleman, Joshua Redman and John Scofield have played in recent years.
Also, Kongsberg it’s the home of some prominent artists such as Morten Harket – the lead singer of A-ha; jazz pianist Morten Qvenild; jazz guitarist Ivar Grydeland and pianist Håkon Austbø – among many others. Little wicked John is back and although he’s not playing with the matches, he’s guitar it’s on fire! I thought it’s his guitar, but just like that it might be an axe or a rifle as well – after all we’re living some strange and violent times!
Definitively John 5 is one of the most virtuoso and versatile guitarist of the modern rock/metal scene and he had a major contribution to the body of work of some influential artists such as Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie. “Careful With That Axe” it’s a guitar album, he’s sixth solo album following “The Art of Malice” released 4 years ago, but it’s a quality and enjoyable throughout album consist of 9 songs plus intro. Complex and technical guitar solos and chain-saw riffs are both deadly weapons in the arsenal of John 5. The music it’s a vivid mixture of neo-classical virtuoso moments with Malmsteen and Satriani resonances and wicked, heavy guitar riffs.
While “Flight Of The Vulcan Kelly” reminded me of “Flight of the Bumblebee” by Rimsky-Korsakov, the very next “Jerry’s Breakdown” it’s a bluegrass/country flavored acoustic rundown. Under the John Zorn moniker a lot of quite different records are released regularly. He write classic music, chamber music and all sort of experimental jazz sometimes with roots back to Jewish traditional music, sometimes tripping over the frontiers of our average perception. “In The Hall Of Mirrors” features three extraordinary talented musicians, a rhythm section made of bassist Greg Cohen and drummer Tyshawn Sorey, and the virtuoso pianist Stephen Gosling. We’ve got 48.46 minutes of sparkling, refreshing, intense, still extremely enjoyable experimental (jazz) music.
Blending classical and jazz music, this is a breathtaking and intense album throughout, reveling new dimensions and sounds, introducing the listeners to a limitless open space full of flavors and surprises. The performance of Stephen Gosling it’s fascinating and very inspired, while the dynamic rhythm section of Cohen and Sorey offers a breathtaking and solid groundwork. Simply splendid! This was a series of concerts started on October 31, 2012 by Guns N’ Roses celebrating 25 years from the release of their 28 million copies worldwide selling album “Appetite for Destruction” (1987), album which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, including the super-hit “Sweet Child o’ Mine”, their only single to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100; and four years since the release of their latest album “Chinese Democracy” (2008). I’m not really into deathcore, but accidentally I saw the video of “Sin City” and it’s really a great song filled up with killer riffs, smart breaks and wickedly crafted hooks. So, it made me curious about their upcoming third and deadly album, “The World Is My Enemy Now”.
And “Red Razor Wrists” it’s just like a punch right to your face, leave no room for mistakes and take your breath away instantly. The smoothly incorporated scratches and electronics and the murderous guitars with the furious vocals of Danny culminating with a catchy chorus make this one to be the perfect opener and convinced me that Upon A Burning Body it’s a band worth to follow.
