deepfield – Nothing Can Save Us Now (2011)

Currently based in Chicago, Illinois, deepfield (the “d” is always lower case) was formed in Charleston, SC in 2005 by singer Baxter Teal, guitarist Eric Bass (now the bassist for Shinedown), drummer Russell Lee (drums) and bass player J. King. After only shopping a 3 song demo the band found themselves playing a showcase in New York, where they were promptly signed by industry legend Bill McGathy to his new label, In De Goot Recordings.
“Archetypes and Repetition”, the 12 songs debut album produced by Paul Ebersold and Skidd Mills was released in the summer of 2007. The band toured the U.S. extensively from 2007-2009 with bands such as Shinedown, Chevelle, Puddle Of Mudd, Saliva, Saving Abel, Drowning Pool, Tantric, Nonpoint and The Exies.
Delivering a post-grunge flavored modern rock tied with solid hooks and pounding rock themes, deepfield sounds powerful, massive and mature, merging melodies and harmonies with energy and strength. Read more deepfield – Nothing Can Save Us Now (2011)

Blackout Beach – Fuck Death (2011)

This album sounds like a mesh up of David Bowie with Brian Eno, a little bit of both of them and a twist of everything, a mysterious hellhole of soulful electronics and psychedelic post-whatever – intentionally avoiding the therm of rock. It’s spooky, but simultaneously quite fascinating. Its have charm, spirit – and ultimately soul, soul that is totally lacking from the music nowadays when everything is resumed to sound, production and trends. Well, this is absolutely out of trend, off beat as it says. But it feels good, I like it.
This is Carey Mercer’s (of Frog Eyes and Swan Lake) solo creations began as a project called “Bertrand Russell and the Country Club” and the first album entitled “Light Flows the Putrid Dawn”, was issued in June 2004 on Soft Abuse. Read more Blackout Beach – Fuck Death (2011)

The Mono Jacks – Woman video single and free download

The Mono Jacks is a four-piece hailing from Bucharest, Romania and delivering mainstream flavored indie rock.
Their debut album entitled “Now in Stereo” is available for download at their Bandcamp page for €5 EUR and it received several positive reviews. The band now is in a viral promotion assault introducing their upcoming second album and its leading single, “Woman” is available for free download at The Mono Jacks – Official Site.
Their catchy, radio-friendly, quite British taste-like post-rock/alternative pop music have the potential to topping the charts easily. In this actual promotional operation it might be a good idea to give also their debut album away on “name your price” basics, although €5 EUR is a correct price and you will receive also two bonus remixes by The Pixels and Alien Pimp. April – Ten Stones (2009)

April seems to be a very popular name among artist: a couple of bands running using this simple name which make pretty hard to identify one of them, make the difference. After some hard digging I find on MySpace the profile of this French duo, from there I’ve get to their official site and Facebook profile. I thought “Ten Stones” is their actual album, but I was wrong, it was released back in 2009. Merging classic music elements with electronic layers and samplers, combining pop, rock, indie and trip hop elements, JiBé (music, voice) and Flora (voice) delivered their own flavored music. Jennifer Lo-Fi – Noia (2011)

“Troffea” starts as an indie fueled jazz song, complex rhythmic constructions, powerful vocals and smooth guitar works build up an interesting, but dizzy song. Jennifer Lo-Fi? Inspired and catchy name for a newcomer band.
“Neveo” follows in a more conventional manner, if we can admit as conventional a mixture of power pop and indie rock aromas and psychedelic rock resonances with some tasty Brazilian spices. “Ovos” starts as a rock ballad with indie, blues and jazz infusions, they simply shifting from one thing to another, playing tight, energy full and from smooth and hypnotic themes they get violently hardcore. Impressive. And the best is yet to come. Read more Jennifer Lo-Fi – Noia (2011)
