Chris Peterson is probably best known for anyone that is familiar with industrial genre for stepping in to fill the void left in Front Line Assembly and Delerium every time Rhys Fulber leaves to concentrate on some other project and as well, Peterson is known as producer for acts such Noise Unit and Unit 187. But Decree have nothing to do with FLA or Delirium, Peterson with Decree going down on a darker, heavier path, exploring noisy and crushing sounds, mechanical cadence and dissonant layers are flow throughout the songs marked by cutting riffs and raw, filtered vocals. Mixing dark EBM with Euro-dance/trance and some Gothic/Industrial twist, Ad Inferna from Bordeaux, Aquitaine, France, returning with their forth studio album “There Is No Cure”. Galactic – The Other Side of Midnight Live in New Orleans (2011)
Stanton Moore worked with Robert Walter, Corrosion of Conformity, he’s one of the founding members of Galactic, but he’s also involved in other projects as well: Stanton Moore Trio, Garage A Trois and the Midnite Disturbers. Recently I wrote about Garage A Trois and their latest release. New Orleans outfit Galactic has a well earned reputation as one of the most exhilarating live acts around. Originally formed in 1994 as an octet (under the name Galactic Prophylactic) and including singer Chris Lane and guitarist Rob Gowen, the group was soon pared down to an instrumental sextet of: guitarist Jeff Raines, bassist Robert Mercurio, drummer Stanton Moore, Hammond organist Rich Vogel, Theryl DeClouet on vocals, and later adding saxophonist Ben Ellman. Tera Melos – Echo On The Hills Of Knebworth (2011)
Let’s say this from the beginning: this is not “something” easy to digest to the Billboard like music consumers. Actually, Tera Melos after finished tracking for “Patagonian Rats”, they previous record released in 2010, at the hangar in Sacramento, had some additional studio time and decided to record a live, improvised piece for… fun. “Echo On The Hills Of Knebworth” is a 51 minutes track, a stream of conscious, weird, messed up playing, freakout, improvised piece.
Tera Melos have developed a cult-like fan base around the United States. The band was formed in 2004 in Sacramento, California, after the breakup of Nick Reinhart and Nathan Latona’s former band No Regard. They teamed up with Jeff Worms and Vince Rogers. Skindred – Union Black (2011)
Skindred has sometimes been compared to Bad Brains, they got in their vain that hardcore explosion which made them one of the most exciting live acts in the UK, they reminds me of Asian Dub Foundation or the heaviest moments of Subsource, but as well they may be compared to Limp Bizkit. Alternative metal blended with dub and reggae it only can be intense, pumping, explosive. And this mixture formula, blending of metal/rock and punk elements with dub, reggae and electronica, since Apollo 440 and the beginning of the 90s, it’s not quite new, but it’s working efficiently when it’s made with nerve and taste. And Skindred for the past decade proof to have both. As usually, everybody reclaiming the paternity of the genre, but I think music it’s not exclusively about who was the first, but about writing good songs and express something, anything. Yes, we do, because, yes, we can. I don’t wanna sound disrespectful, but hey, what’s so fuckin’ special about already balding Williams? Except the fact that he won the birth lottery and instead born in Somalia and starving to death he was born at St Mary’s Hospital, London, in the right freaky family, well, I think there’s nothing special about this dude. And well, being short, fuck the Pope, fuck the Royal Family, and generally speaking: fuck everybody! (Who’s volunteering to be the first? 😀 )
On 29 April 2011, Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine performed at the royal wedding reception for Prince William & Catherine Middleton in London, England! 😆 The album captures this live “cocktail hour” performance, featuring 15 romantic love songs recorded live at Buckingham Palace. Ben Harper – Give Till Its Gone (2011)
Rock N’ Roll Is Free? Well, according to Ben Harper it is or at least, it should be. Harper plays an eclectic mix of blues, folk, soul, reggae and rock music and is known for his guitar-playing skills, vocals, live performances, activism, actually at the age of 12, Harper played his first gig and since 1992 he released a couple of quality records, shifting his style and approach between different sounds and genres.
His father, Leonard, was of African-American and Cherokee ancestry, and his mother, Ellen Chase-Verdries, is Jewish. His maternal great-grandmother was a Russian-Lithuanian Jew, so being multi-colored, shifting styles and merging genres it’s not quite surprising. The term “one-hit wonder” is most often used to describe music performers with only one hit single. “Kung Fu Fighting” by Carl Douglas, “Sugar, Sugar” by The Archies, “It’s Raining Men” by The Weather Girls, “Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles, “Tainted Love” by Soft Cell,”Turning Japanese” by The Vapors, “For What It’s Worth” by Buffalo Springfield, ” In the Summertime” by Mungo Jerry, “What’s Up” by 4 Non Blondes, “Breakfast At Tiffanys” by Deep Blue Something and “Who Let the Dogs Out?” by Baha Men are just one of the few songs and artists “honored with this distinction”. On the other hand, some lists also included songs and artist such as “Epic” by Faith No More, “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” by Iron Butterfly, “All Right Now” by Free, “Cars” by Gary Numan or “”Take On Me” by A-Ha, so, it’s not a that dishonorable classification after all.
