Black Futures – Chemical (Official Music Video)

Black Futures

If you think dubstep it’s dead, you might be right if you’re considering dubstep that mainstream bullshit the media selling so… extensively. But what about something called future punk? Unfortunately, one of my favorite bands, Subsource have officially split. Fortunately Read more Black Futures – Chemical (Official Music Video)

Of Mice & Men – Restoring Force (2014)

Of Mice & Men - Restoring Force (2014)

Of Mice & Men - Restoring Force (2014) I just saw a few days back “Through the Never” and listening the opening track of the third full-length studio abum by Of Mice & Men I realized that not one of these metal bands would sound the same if the Danish-born drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist James Hetfield wouldn’t met in late 1981 after Ulrich placed an advertisement in a Los Angeles newspaper called The Recycler. Well, the second name which came in my mind was obviously Pantera. Without the contorted and twisted off riffs of Dimebag Darrell most of these new metal(core) bands would still riffing like Tony Iommi or like Dave Murray and Adrian Smith. And there’s nothing wrong riffing like that actually. 🙂
Although I’m not particularly excited about this new wave of so-called metalcore bands, Of Mice & Men is definitively one of the leading bands of the new generation and I liked their sound and style right from the beginning. With – or maybe because – of this Metallica/Pantera parallels, but also because they managed to re-assemble this classic influences into a new type of sound and approach. And “Restoring Force” it’s a banging throughout album filled up with fabulous riffs and grinding to the ground songs. Read more Of Mice & Men – Restoring Force (2014)

Meredith – The Shape Of Things To Come, EP (2014)

Meredith The Shape Of EP 2014

Meredith The Shape Of EP 2014 I tried to dig out some background info about this French band, but I didn’t find too much and the few things I found were in French, not a language I know. Guitarist/singer Fred Lefranc sent me a link to their teaser last December, meanwhile the 5 track EP was officially released. Unfortunately they don’t have a video yet, but fortunately, they put it on-line on the Bandcamp. (While Spotify in some countries it’s not available, on Deezer if you don’t have account, can only listen 30 seconds of each song and not everybody it’s iPhone addicted and have the iTunes applications instaled… So, for promotional purposes YouTube, SoundCloud and Bandcamp are still the best free options available. MySpace it’s a… dead space. 😆 )
Although, most of the people don’t even bother to step outside Facebook lately, so, music it’s doomed just as the whole goddamn human race!
But let’s see what Meredith propose us!
The sound of things to come it’s solid, intense, modern, alternative rock/metal. Read more Meredith – The Shape Of Things To Come, EP (2014)

Skindred – Kill The Power (2014)

Skindred - Kill The Power (2014)

Skindred - Kill The Power (2014) Benji Webbe and his comando (Daniel Pugsley – bass; Mikey Demus – guitar, backing vocals; and Arya Goggin – drums) of reggae-metal from Welsh are back with their fifth studio album entitled “Kill the Power”. He stated about the titled and the upcoming album: “We are more than excited to unleash this Skindred bomb on the world! Kill The Power is for all them that are sick of being the underdog, and wanna step up and destroy all those who oppress and hold them down! Use this album as a backdrop to overcome and take your life back! We ain’t fighting the power no more – we are definitely killing it!!” And they delivered probably their best album so far.
Filled-up with powerful, nu-metal flavored riffs, dub aromas, wicked electronic layers, reggae rooted grooves and hardcore attitude, Skindred seems to be at the pick of their intensity and take no prisoners. This is a colorful, heavy, banging and surprising throughout album and probably live it will grind you into the ground for good. Read more Skindred – Kill The Power (2014)

Cairoglyphs – The Veil, EP (2014)

Cairoglyphs The Veil EP 2014

Cairoglyphs The Veil EP 2014 Hip hop it’s not actually my cup of tea, but once in a while I’m listening some hip hop as well, have a few favorites and I can appreciate the quality in any genre and style. Cairoglyphs have a cool Oriental/middle East flavor, but the Kansas City based hip-hop artist/producer Ryan Forest merged quite different sounds and styles from dense electronic layers to rap, and from dark, deep house constructions to pounding hip hop beats. Kind of past meets the future, highly danceable, very fluorescent type of music. Dark dance music with content. While IDM and EDM are simply dead labels drained by any meaning and content lately, Ryan Forest proves that the dance music might still have future.
“The Veil”, Ryan Forest debut EP has just been released on Russian Winter Records and by the kindness of the record label we got one, exclusive free track for download, a pretty cool teaser to make you buy the EP. Read more Cairoglyphs – The Veil, EP (2014)
