ReinXeed – Swedish Hitz Goes Metal (2011)

This is fun. And eventually an excellent way to market the band and a product. ReinXeed a Symphonic/Power Metal band from Boden, Sweden, formed in 2004 by vocalist Tommy Johansson. They released four albums, I admit, never listen or heard about them before. Johansson take inspiration from different movie soundtracks – such as Lord of the Rings -, cartoons and bands like Helloween with Michael Kiske, and Rhapsody of Fire. On their official YouTube Channel you will find lot of covers from cartoon tunes to Tina Turner, Helloween or Celin Dion. “Swedish Hitz Goes Metal” is a collection of covers from three classic, exclusively Swedish bands: Abba, Roxette and Ace Of Base.
Singing mainly high, Tommy Johansson have an extremely powerful voice. Classic Heavy Metal fans – Helloween, Judas Priest – will be delighted. Read more ReinXeed – Swedish Hitz Goes Metal (2011)

Vader – Welcome to the Morbid Reich (2011)

Disappointed by “Illud Divinum Insanus”, the last Morbid Angel? It sounds too modern, too industrial? Well, “Welcome to the Morbid Reich” is classy as death metal originally was and Vader, veterans from “behind the Iron Curtain”, delivering quality, uncompromising, brutal death metal since the 80s.
“Morbid Reich”, their third demo released in 1990, selling nearly 10,000 copies and it’s still considered to be the best selling demo tape in the history of death metal. Entitled “Welcome to the Morbid Reich” definitively is a firm signal to the world and fans: Vader stays the same, expect just another intense, quality death metal album from Piotr “Peter” Wiwczarek and his band mates.
You will be holding in your hands “Welcome To The Morbid Reich” on August 12th if you didn’t already get the mp3s leaked out on the internet… Should support your favorite bands and buy the real stuff, girls and boys, illegal downloads don’t pay artists bills… Read more Vader – Welcome to the Morbid Reich (2011)

Prince Edward Island – This Day Is A Good Enough Day (2011)

I actually missed something like this. Joyful, but acid and fun by dry humour, sounds mainly like drinking sing-a-longs, but catchy enough, simple, straight, not bloody indie rock, not again metalcore, harsh as the Scottish whiskey and smooth like a summer night, sunny as a child play, Prince Edward Island long awaited debut album “This day is a good enough day” coming through Crocfingers Record on Monday the 29th August. But till then, you can fully enjoy the whole material on their Soundcloud page. And enjoy it’s exactly how it feels. Reminds me a little bit of Eels and some good old days. When I gave up fooling myself and waiting for some better days – on a day like this with all the stock markets falling like dominoes one after another, this day and this album is more than good enough. Soviet Soviet – Summer, Jesus (2011)

I just stumbled into this and it’s just such a nice surprise. Soviet Soviet are an Italian trio from Pesara and their music is a quite catchy mixture of garage and industrial rock noises with the bitter-sweet echoes of Joy Division and the straightness and healthy arrogance of The Clash. This 6 track CD was released by Tannen Records in June 2011 and it’s a quality post-punk product. The strong, pumping bass lines and the tasty guitar riffs are the strongest points of this material, these guys create dark atmosphere, have some good grooves and a few strong passages/themes. Maybe it’s not outstanding, but definitely worth to listen it.
