I was 19 years old when I crushed into “Nothingface” and since I’m in love with Voivod. Piggy’s death in 2005 lead to the release of “Infini” in 2009 but I was quite sure that Snake (Denis Bélanger), Away (Michel Langevin), Blacky (Jean-Yves Thériault) – the three original members of the band and guitarist Chewy (Daniel Mongrain) recruited in 2008 will put end to the band. “Infini” proofed to be another successful release, the band was touring extensively since and while according to an interview with Langevin, Voivod have been writing and recording new music, but still, it’s too early to think of a new Voivod studio album, they decided to release this live recording. ‘Warriors of Ice” will be available June 14 on Indica Records in Canada and Sonic Unyon Metal in USA June 21. Atari Teenage Riot – Is This Hyperreal (2011)
ATR’s early releases – which included songs like “Hetzjagd Auf Nazis!”/“Hunt Down the Nazis!” – were surrounded by controversy in Germany. Highly political, they fused anarchist and anti-Nazi views with punk vocals and the emerging techno sound which was ravishing new back than at the beginning of the 90s. The three Berliners – Alec Empire, Hanin Elias and MC Carl Crack taken their name from a Portuguese Joe song Teenage Riot from the Teen-age Riot album with the word Atari added, as an Atari ST computer was used to create compositions.
They signing to Phonogram Records, a major European label, in 1993 the band received an unusually large financial advance which they duplicitously used to set up their own record label: Digital Hardcore Recordings (DHR) and in the best tradidion of any anarchist and punk band, they never delivered a commercially viable demo to Phonogram. Samael – Lux Mundi (2011)
Samael was a hell of a guy! 
Actually an important archangel in Talmudic and post-Talmudic lore, a figure who is accuser, seducer and destroyer, and has been regarded as both good and evil. Also called Sammael and Samil, he is considered in legend both a member of the heavenly host with often grim and destructive duties and a fallen angel, equatable with Satan and the chief of the evil spirits. One of Samael’s greatest roles in Jewish lore is that of the angel of death. In this capacity he is a fallen angel but nevertheless remains one of the Lord’s servants. As a good angel, Samael supposedly resides in the seventh heaven, although he is declared to be the chief angel of the fifth heaven. KMFDM – WTF?! (2011)
It’s been two years since the release of “Blitz” and KMFDM are back now with their seventeenth studio album released yesterday, on April 26. It’s true, meanwhile KMFDM released two compilation albums, “Würst” and “Greatest Shit”. Since Tim Sköld (formerly of Shotgun Messiah) left in 2003 to join Marilyn Manson (he left Manson in 2008 and formed Doctor Midnight & The Mercy Cult alongside Hank von Helvete), he still had contributed to KMFDM – “Skold vs. KMFDM” released in 2009, completed entirely over the Internet – and since Sascha Konietzko and Lucia Cifarelli moved to Hamburg, Germany, it will be the first release entirely without any contribution from Tim. Steve White and Jules Hodgson played guitars and Andy Selway the drums, completing the curent line-up of the band. “What the Fuck?!” still remains fresh, pulsing, intense and exciting. KMFDM is one of the few of this genre of Industrial Metal and Rock/EBM blending which avoiding successfully to repeat them self and becoming boring. Read more KMFDM – WTF?! (2011)
Blood – X-Cultura (2011)
In my book, Blood was a cult Japanese band closely associated with visual kei, but they referred to themselves as a “gothic band”. It’s the first time when I heard of Blood from Alicante, Spain. The band was formed in 1999 by Jose Master – vocals and bass and Mado Javier Battery East Beneyto – guitar, vocals, sequences, and they played a blending of Goth and Industrial Metal. “X-Cultura” contains 11 brand new tracks including three remixes by Alien Vampire, Homicide Division and Obszon Geschopf. While those remixes sounds pretty EBM, the other 9 tracks sounds much darker and heavier, quite similar to the sound of Rammstein. Read more Blood – X-Cultura (2011)
Iperyt – No State Of Grace (2011)
Called “extreme terror hardcore techno” it may sound even sicker than a sick innovation that it is. These guys from Poland delivered a contorted blend of black/death metal with merciless industrial noises. Grinding tempos, killer guitar riffs, Slayer like screaming vocals seems to be their winning recipe. And it’s working like a chainsaw. More important, they managed to write not only powerful mixtures of furious black metal and death/grind slaughters with industrial after touch, but they have a couple of great songs: “A Pocket Size Armageddon”, ” The Antithesis”, “Scars Are Sexy”,”Keep Your Eyes Closed”,”The Player”.

Oblivion Machine – Viewpoint Collector (2010)
Din Saratov, Rusia aceşti Oblivion Machine surprind cu un material foarte profesionist, propun publicului un Death Metal condimentat cu infuzii Electro şi Industrial ce amintesc într-o oarecare măsură de Fear Factory din era 1991-1994, perioada marcată de albumul „Soul of a New Machine”, lipsesc doar escapadele melodice furnizate de Burton C. Bell, Alex rămâne exclusiv la tradiţionala abordare brutală a la Max Cavalera.
Trupa a fost înfiinţată de cei doi fraţi Alex şi Konstantin, ambii chitarişti în primăvara lui 2003 şi lor li s-a alăturat basistul E_X_I_L_E.
Trupa şi-a păstrat componenţa şi formula de trio ţi în 2008 debutează cu albumul „Unnatural & Wrong” sub egida Irond Records. Cele 10 piese sunt un Metal brutal cu rădăcini Death şi beneficiază de suportul samplerelor şi coloraturilor Electro. Un mix incisiv şi interesant, elementele brutale şi tehnice sunt îmbinate organic şi inventiv cu sonorităţile Industrial.

Povesteam anul trecut la disecţia albumului „New World Orphans” că i-am remarcat pe (həd) p.e. acum zece ani cu piesa „Bartender” şi gaşca lui Jared Gomes înfiinţată în1994 ne furnizează cu regularitate şi perseverenţă începând de la debutul din 1997 albume incisive şi consistente, un amestec incendiar de Rap Metal, infuzii de Raggae şi Dub contrabalansate de secvenţe zgomotoase de Metal a la Anthrax şi Hardcore după standardele Suicidal Tendencies. Aceste faze Hardcore/Metal se datorează în primul rând chitaristului Jackson „Jaxon” Lee Benge alăturat trupei în 2004 pe albumul „Only In Amerika”. Lupta dintre preferinţele Rap ale lui Jared şi orientarea spre Hardcore al lui Jaxon s-a dovedit benefică trupei, riff-urile zgomotoase şi abordarea a la Minor Threat împinse insistent de Jaxon au câştigat tot mai mult spaţiu şi în final au obţinut un cocktail exploziv, dar bine echilibrat. Şi-au definit stilul ca fiind G-Punk, o “derivată” Rock la G-Funk.

Reject – prima formaţie Industrial din România
Mulţi pretind că au inventat lopata, dar dacă te uiţi la mâinile lor bătăturile nu-s de la muncă…
E şi o vorbă românească potrivită: după război mulţi viteji se arată.
Dar dacă e să vorbim pe bune, cum şi scena/underground-ul Rock/Metal scârţâie dacă-l luăm la bani mărunţi, despre zona Industrial practic nici nu se poate vorbi.
Throbbing Gristle sunt desemnaţi de majoritatea specialiştilor ca fiind responsabili pentru formarea şi înrădăcinarea genului Industrial, un nume de care probabil foarte mulţi nici n-au auzit. Monte Cazazza, Cabaret Voltaire, Einstürzende Neubauten sau Laibach sunt la fel nume relativ obscure pentru mulţi.
De Laibach ştiam de la Liviu Hoisan (Tectonic) şi la aceea vreme ascultam fascinat VoiVod. Datorită lui Kuky – pe atunci chitaristul formaţiei braşovene Detector – în ’90 am avut primul contact cu Nine Inch Nails (Pretty Hate Machine), Ministry (The Land of Rape and Honey şi The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste) şi Malhavok (The Release), discuri primite de acesta prin intermediul unui prieten plecat în Canada.
Noile trupe şi sonorităţi ne-au marcat şi… tentat.
Acum lucrurile sunt simple, dar în ’90 un computer personal încă era o raritate şi tehnologia era într-un stadiu incipient, experimental (şi primitiv). Şi hardware-ul şi software-ul.
Trupa Detector s-a desfiinţat în ’93, Mari (chirară), Mărinu (bas) şi Zoli (tobe) s-au alăturat noului meu proiect, Nation’s Slum (mai am o restanţă şi aici de povestit) după ruptura mea de Pansament iar Kuky a trecut prin Experimental şi împreună cu Mari s-au apucat de… experimentat şi pe noul tărâm ivit: Industrialul.
Inspiraţi de videoclipul formaţiei Bile „I Reject” (Bile – pagină MySpace) şi descinderea unei alte găşti americane la Bucureşti, Schnitt Acht, s-a născut proiectul REJECT.
