Sounds Under Radio – Where My Communist Heart Meets My Capitalist Mind (2011)

You might believe this is the new Muse album, its sounds like, even the voice and singing style by use of falsetto and vibrato of Lang Freeman reminds me of Matthew Bellamy, but well, Sounds Under Radio are a band from Austin, Texas, formed in mid 2005 by Lang Freeman, Bradley Oliver (bass, keyboard), Sonny Sanchez (drums) and Doug Wilson (guitar).
Their song “Portrait of a Summer Thief” was featured on the “Spider-Man 3” soundtrack ant their were the only unsigned band (at that time) to be included in the soundtrack amongst names like Snow Patrol, Jet, Wolfmother, The Killers, The Flaming Lips, etc.
They signed with Sony/Epic Records in late 2008, but after facing inter-label turmoil, they gave up their contract and in mid 2008 released their first full length LP “Cinematica” independently. Read more Sounds Under Radio – Where My Communist Heart Meets My Capitalist Mind (2011)

Devin Townsend Project – Ghost (2011)

Devin is probably one of the most talented rock artist of the 21st century, he always find a way to surprise us, to explore a new path, to create and share exciting music and feelings with us. And I think we should thank for this. “Ghost” is the closing act of the four piece release started with “Ki” in 2009 and followed the same year by “Addicted”. “Ki” was an exciting incursion into a world of ambiental, jazz, blues and rock blending and “Addicted” lead us into the area of power pop/alternative metal. This year “Deconstruction” and its nine tracks drive us into the contorted, gloomy world of post-metal madness, it was a mind-blowing return to the noisy constructions of the Strapping Young Lad era. As Devin promised, “Ghost” is the mellowest one. And “mellow” is the word that quite fits this material. Read more Devin Townsend Project – Ghost (2011)

Ad Inferna – There Is No Cure (2011)

Mixing dark EBM with Euro-dance/trance and some Gothic/Industrial twist, Ad Inferna from Bordeaux, Aquitaine, France, returning with their forth studio album “There Is No Cure”. Actually, this is a dark place where there’s no God. The duo of VoA VoXyD – Lead Guitars, Keyboards & Electronics and V. V. Moby – Destroyed (2011)

“All unattended luggage will be destroyed.” Moby’s flight was delayed on the LaGuardia Airport, so he decided to explore the airport. On a corridor he saw an electronic sign that said “all unattended luggage will be destroyed”, and since the sign could only fit one word at a time, he waited until the word “destroyed” appeared and took a snap-shot. The tenth studio album by Moby will be released on May 16, 2011 and it contains 15 brand new songs. Some critics already labeled as Moby’s worst album up to date, but I think it’s just once again a different path which Moby chosen to explore. “Destroyed” is like a series of snap-shots of contemporary ambiental/electronic music. Actually I miss myself a few nervous-breakdowns, some hardcore explosions, a few noisy turns, but I’m also realistic enough to don’t expect no more “That’s When I Reach for My Revolver” from Moby. Necro Facility – Wintermute (2011)

Swedish newcomers Necro Facility deliver another intense and intelligently built trip into the EBM taste-like dark electro music where Industrial-strength beats, heavy synths and twisted sounds which reminds me once again of the Front 242 standard and contemporary club music collide into a glowing, pumping construction made of intensity and musicality simultaneously. Oscar Holter – music and Henrik Bäckström – lyrics and vocals made another “Swedish quality” product, European roots and Canadian sounds of the industrial/EBM scene are merged smoothly into an exciting and colorful material released through Progress Productions. Dolls Of Pain – The Last Conflict (2011)

This is the 4th album by French band Dolls Of Pain which lead us through the shady side of the contorted human soul once again. This is a wicked world made of leather and latex, conflicts and torture, sex, lies and jealousy. Musically, Dolls of Pain is a mixture of Dark Electro/EBM, resonating New Wave left-overs and reminiscences of Synth Pop and filtered Industrial textures with some rocking guitar riffs. There persist some unavoidable parallels with Front 242, the Belgian pioneers of the Dark Electronic music, but Cédric aka VDB42 – synthetic keys/2nd vocals and Olivier aka Machine – guitars/keyboards programming/composing, the two core members of the group, managed to write some interesting themes, “The Last Conflict” is a quality and absolutely correct album of the genre. Atari Teenage Riot – Is This Hyperreal (2011)

Atari Teenage Riot – Is This Hyperreal (2011) ATR’s early releases – which included songs like “Hetzjagd Auf Nazis!”/“Hunt Down the Nazis!” –  were surrounded by controversy in Germany. Highly political, they fused anarchist and anti-Nazi views with punk vocals and the emerging techno sound which was ravishing new back than at the beginning of the 90s. The three Berliners – Alec Empire, Hanin Elias and MC Carl Crack taken their name from a Portuguese Joe song Teenage Riot from the Teen-age Riot album with the word Atari added, as an Atari ST computer was used to create compositions.
They signing to Phonogram Records, a major European label, in 1993 the band received an unusually large financial advance which they duplicitously used to set up their own record label: Digital Hardcore Recordings (DHR) and in the best tradidion of any anarchist and punk band, they never delivered a commercially viable demo to Phonogram.
