Their cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” drew attention among the metal fans and users of the YouTube back in 2006 and actually, it was a murderous cover. And well, Bruthal 6 are a murderous band, they find a brutal mixture of powerful thrash, groove and nu metal grindings with strong and melodious vocals and striking, memorable alternative metal schemes. Eventually imagine a collision between Godsmack and Sepultura, a perfect balance between aggression and harmonies, between brutality and expressive melodies. This band from Buenos Aires, Argentina fined their own, catchy and criminal style of metal.
Formed in 1998 initially using the name Semanthal, they played the classic 90’s thrash metal. One year later they recorded their first demo called “Blood For the Beast” and since 1999 they intensified their live appearances. The brutal music was also supported by their very own style of stage costumes, and their image become an important part of their act. This style has changed over the years and each member developed his own outfit and painted mask style.
In 2001 they recorded their second demo “Insert More Coins” and one year later recorded the infamous version of “Smell Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana for a compilation. They were winners of Metal Gods competition organized by the Violent Times radio program and gained the attention od several other radio stations as well.
In 2005 the band starts recording their first album and regarding some legal issues, change their name into Bruthal 6 after singing a record deal with Discos Miracle label. The album was released in mid-2006 and they toured with Witchcraft, the most popular metal band from Mexico. Also recorded their first live video clip for the song “Fire” and signed contract with Warner Chappell Music which re-released their debut album. A new video was filmed for “Smell Like Teen Spirit”.
In 2007 they sharing the stage with Sepultura and Skin Culture. Next year the band was shaken by the lost of founding member and drummer Diego Perez.
The current line up of the band Mingone Nazarene (voice), Xavier Aguero (guitar), Javier Olmos (guitar), and Silvio Elliott (bass) delivered a killer new album in 2011: “Augenblick”.
