I was waiting for this one. I know András since he was the frontman of his previous band, Fresh Fabrik back in the mid 90’s and I was there when he decided to leave the uprising band and take his chances with a brand new project. And it seems he was right. Superbutt became pretty soon one of the most strongest Hungarian metal combo. “2 Minutes For Roughing” released in 2001 was an angry, raging hardcore/metalcore album blowing right in your face. Two years later the band returned with “The Unbeatable Eleven” only to prove that they are here to stay. “Black Soup” in 2006 and “You and Your Revolution” in 2008 showed a more mature band, but without they loosing their edge. Superbutt has toured all across Europe since 2001 and played over 500 gigs, sharing the stage with bands such as Clawfinger, Ignite, Pro-Pain, Soulfly, In Flames, Prong, Mucky Pup and Rollins Band, among many others.
I was waiting for “Music For Animals” and Superbutt didn’t let me down again.
“Butthole Surfers, Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Goo Goo Dolls, Voodo Glow Skulls, Pussy Galore, Pygmy Love Circus . . . these are just a few examples of ridiculous band names that lurk around the seemingly endless corners of the rock music world. If a canonical list of stupid names for rock bands exists (which it probably does somewhere on the Internet), then another band name should be added to the list: Superbutt. What kind of name is Superbutt for a rock band? Are these guys gay and they dig each other’s asses? No. Do they have female band members with gorgeous asses? No.” – Excerpt from their MySpace page – because I think it’s funny.
Attila Kovács and Tamás Práznek – guitars, András Vörös – vocals, György Nedoluha – bass, Adam Fellegi – drums (on the album) and Attila Erdei – drums (live) playing a blend of Rock ‘n’ Roll and metal, and the band seems to reached their musical maturity and delivered a heavy, groove oriented and colorful material.
Released in September 2011, the material is a double album with a full length English language LP on disc #1 and a Hungarian language EP and bonus cover songs on disc #2.
