In a world of senseless violence a to the bone brutal album actually make sense. And beneath the surface, Michel Anoia it’s more then simple and pure brutality. Merging some killer and chill jazz breaks, slow grinding and doom flavored passages and complex, technical moments with brutal, grindcore rooted death metal, Michel Anoia offers a 30 minutes (almost) non-stop hell of a ride. This is the ultimate death metal roller-coaster.
The sound of the recording it’s raw, unpolished, ideal rehearsal type of, but it’s just the perfect, live and alive, breathing and kicking sound for this kind of music. Very convincing. And the song – the 29:24 minutes butchery – it’s flawless. Smartly build up, naturally flowing, with excellent breaks and moments for breathing, technically brilliant, intense and brutal throughout. Fans of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Between the Buried and Me, The Conjuration and generally, of those brutal, but colourful, bold and experimental metal bands will be delighted and definitively satisfied.

Michel Anoia is a power trio
augmented by two enslaved draftsmen, born in Lyon in 2012.
Their high stupidity potential, the love for all forms of violent music combined with psychedelic illustrations gave birth to their first project. Multiple effects pedals, many riotous vocal interventions, shit-tons of riffs and special visual effects will cheer you up while you vomit.
The project’s key idea is a research on combining and synergising visuals and sounds in all the direction. They try as hard as they can to improve what they’ve got to offer at every gig and deliver a better audio/visual performance.
The first project began with a 30 minute live set composed by the three musicians in which freaky animated images were projected on the band. The final videoprojection is still a work in progress – the narration is evolving rapidly with the mass creativity of our two visual artists. We perform a non-stop 30 minutes live set with a simultaneous videoprojection of the artists’ creations.
Wuul: Drums, representing the unknown voice of vegetables
Charles Momo: Guitar, mantis body move and high-pitch yell
Simsim: Bass Guitar heavy-weight-ninja, Jagermeister gives him special powers
Boitaju & Hido : Keepers of the almighty pencils of attendance and neurosis’ pictures.
Drums have been recorded at the “Makhouse Studio”, guitars & vocals have been recorded at the “Loc'”, mixed & mastering by Jeremy Pachoud at “Papaschulz di Papatchouli Studio”.
They’re currently working on our next project – the same idea in the opposite direction. The band will compose the music for an animated short film drawn by Boitaju and Hido.
Really great stuff, impressive and absolutely promising, so, I’m quite anxious to listen the follow up! Thanks guys and inspiration, energy and lot of luck!!
