Merging colourful, different approaches and genres, iwrestledabearonce managed to create their own unique style metal. Between death metal and metalcore, heavy metal and avant-garde with neo-progressive infusions, iwrestledabearonce seems to delivered an unstoppable album. Their musical style is considered avant-garde metal due to their use of frequent genre changes within songs, including jazz, swing, neo-progressive, grindcore and electronica/disco, on a solid ground of metalcore. Influences for their musical style have come from a wide variety of bands including The Dillinger Escape Plan, Between the Buried And Me, Radiohead and Bjork.
Formed in 2007 in Shreveport, Louisiana, and currently based in Birmingham, Alabama, iwrestledabearonce singed to Tragic Hero Records and released their self-titled debut EP. Soon they get the attention of Century Media and singed a deal with them to release their debut album in 2009, “It’s All Happening”.
“It’s All Happening” reached #1 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and #122 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Steven Bradley (guitars, keyboards, samples, programming) has stated that the group’s new album will embrace black metal, later it was confirmed to be only a large practical joke orchestrated by the band and heavy metal website, MetalSucks.
“Ruining It For Everybody” it’s an exciting, intense, contorted, experimental and simultaneously extreme metal material, iwrestledabearonce balancing and shifting between genres and styles, juggling with elements and sounds, but staying heavy, furious and delivering killer tracks.
