Jerom – vocals, Allian and Txomin – guitars, Thomas – bass and Mikel – drums reveals a chaotic and insane world, their furious hardcore collide with loud and emotional metalcore and the result, as the bend defined it, it’s “blackened mathcore”, kind of sick and full of energy extreme, modern metal with roots back both to hardcore and black/death metal and the outfit of now days mathcore, emocore. Helms Alee – Weatherhead (2011)
Helms Alee were formed in 2007 by Ben Verellen (of the Harkonen, Roy, and These Arms Are Snakes), Dana James and Hozoji Margullis. “Weatherhead” is a boiling mixture of fury and beauty melting together vibrating and smooth acoustic elements and raging post-hardcore riffings, delivering perfect balance of what we mainly labeled as “alternative rock” and post-metal. Dana James have a powerful and expressive voice, she both singing and howling while Ben Verellen sometimes bring some extreme raw vocals as support. “Weatherhead” sounds cutting, dirty, full of energy, but still, they built in smooth and beautiful moments which gives a gloomy shining and more dynamics to their songs and this powerful album.

Coerce – Ethereal Surrogate Saviour (2011)
Coerce was formed in late 1999 in Deal, Kent, UK by Adam Smart – Vocals, James Wells – Guitars, Chris Williams – Bass and Liam Foy – drums and hey registered the name Coerce with The Worldwide Band Name Registry, still, there’s a band using the same name from Australia… a band split between Adelaide and Melbourne formed in 2008 by Mike Deslandes, Matt Adey, Karl Roberts and Justin Bond. The Brits declare on their MySpace page that they are playing Alternative / Hardcore / Metal while the Australians defined them self playing Big Beat/German pop/Tropical…
While there’s quite much confusion – an lack of information – on both bands pages and once again, somebody chosen a name before checking out if the name is available, I take no responsibilities for any further misunderstanding.
“Ethereal Surrogate Saviour” it’s quite off of Tropical/Big Beat, actually its bring to the surface a contorted, crushy and sometimes quite chaotic and gloomy post/experimental metal with roots back to hardcore but flavored with psychedelic and progressive spices being inspired by different bands from King Crimson to Tool and Pantera. find an unique path between progressive rock and metal and the noisy, stoner/doom infiltrated post-hardcore and merging these different styles into one they came up with something quite special and exciting.

Limp Bizkit – Gold Cobra (2011)
Scheduled for release on June 28, 2011, Limp Bizkit finally made their way back. All along 2010 their official web site announced that it is “the year of the Cobra” and adding the fact it’s been six years since their last release, “The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1)”, the expectations were escalate pretty high. The downside of the delayed release might be that we set our expectations too high or some might lost their interest along the way. Last year, to maintain this interest high, Fred posted teasers to the songs “Shark Attack”, “90 to 10”, “Douchebag” and “Walking Away” and “leaked out” “Why Try” last April and “Walking Away” last August. On May 17, 2011 it was released “Shotgun” as a digital download, the lead single from “Gold Cobra”. On June 7, 2011, Fred leaked the second single, “Gold Cobra” and finally the standard edition album leaked out yesterday, on June 20 2011, four days before it’s earliest release date. Of Mice and Men – The Flood (2011)
For a year or two I’m at least suspicious if not directly sick only when I hear of “indie” or “alternative” labels, this year I got myself a new syndrome, I get sick when I hear of “metalcore”. Too many faceless bands does the same kind of shit and it becomes pretty boring. Fortunately there are always few exception, and talking bout metalcore, Of Mice and Men are still manage to put on the table exciting materials.
The band was formed by Austin Carlile – original vocalist of Attack Attack! – and bassist Jaxin Hall during mid-2009 after Carlile’s departure from his former band. After reaching 1,000,000 plays from their Myspace profile in just two months since its launch, the band uploaded a cover of Lady Gaga’s song, “Poker Face” and a copy of the demo was sent directly to Rise Records.
The band released their self-titled debut album in March 2010. On “The Emptiness Tour” in 2010 Carlile fell in to a conflict with the other members and the band and Carlile decided to part ways. The group thereafter invited Jerry Roush – vocalist for Sky Eats Airplane and American Me – to front Of Mice & Men. But after nine months the group confirmed in January 2011 that they reached a decision to have Jerry Roush leave Of Mice & Men in favor for former vocalist and founding member, Austin Carlile to return to the group. Engineer – Crooked Voices (2011)
Dirty and contorted, merging hardcore with sludge, twisted riffs and slow grinds with breathe acoustic relieves and blue collar breaks, Engineer bring to the surface a world of darkness and suffering, pour their pain on us and drown us under the weight of their sick songs.
From Syracuse, NY, Engineer are compound of three brothers and a brutal dude behind the drum kit: Bobby – vocals, Ryan – guitar, Brad – bass, respectively Mike Auclair – drums. Diapsiquir – A.N.T.I. (2011)
Formed in 1996 at Paris, France, Diapsiquir are avant-garde black metal with sick, psycho, twisted and intriguing textures, infusions of different musical genres from French chansons to rapcore and industrial, from dark-ambiental to displaced jazz. Considered “controversial french outlaw black metal band known for their decadent activities” and “never resting and fully absorbed in the savage, sexually violent, drug-laden nihilism of french subculture”, A.N.T.I., their third full-length album introduced us in a gloomy, but expressive, contorted and scary universe of sickness and filth. Unexpect – Fables of the Sleepless Empire (2011)
Twisted and schizophrenic – perhaps psychosomatic 😀 – Unexpect is exactly what they name suggest to be: expect the unexpected.
Formed at Montreal, Canada in 1996, they delivering since an unique – and quite sick – blend of different music styles, including black metal, death metal, thrash metal, progressive metal, melodic heavy metal, classical music, dark cabaret, opera, medieval music, jazz, funk, electro, ambient, noise, gypsy music, and just name anything you can think of.
“Utopia” they self-released, 1999 debut album, sold quite successfully, while the band market it only through internet and by man to man. Critically acclaimed, “Utopia” drew enough attention which lead to the release of the EP entitled “_We, Invaders” in November 2003 through the Canadian label Galy Records. Next they signed with New York-based The End Records and the band’s second album In a Flesh Aquarium was released in 2006 and they were winners of the 7th annual Independent Music Awards Vox Pop, voted for best Hard Rock/Metal Album “In a Flesh Aquarium”. Kourgane – Corps De Chasse (2011)
Can’t dig and figure out too much about Kourgane, but I know for sure, they delivering a sick, twisted mixture of contemporary music including explosive spices of noise-rock, post-hardcore, jazz and experimental avant-garde elements. This is future-hardcore. Gloomy, heavy, contorted and restless. This universe was revealed for us by Tool at the beginning of the 90s when almost out of the blue the EP “Opiate” (1992) and their debut album “Undertow” (1993) opened a new doorway to an unexplored path of music expression of anger and twisted thoughts.
Unfortunately they are not willing to share any information in other language than French, and well, my French resume to “merde” – and I don’t wanna sound disrespectful. Frederic Jouanlong – vocals, Jarame Renault – drums, Gilles Lahonda – bariton guitar and Ryan Kernoa – guitar, introduced us in the world of pulsing riffs, pumping drums and shattered feelings. Bone Dance, Divider Plebeian and Grandstand – Three-​Way Split (2011)
Throatruiner Records from France in a common effort with Mayfly Records from USA tempting us with this 12″ split which will be released on early July. Noisy, contorted, experimental and exciting incursion in the area of modern (or quite post-modern) metal with flavors of avant-garde melt into extreme brutality. Three bands, three songs, different approaches, but all of them bringing to the surface new excitements.
Bone Dance from Boise, Idaho, USA, are nihilists and doesn’t want to be your friend. “Conniver” is a raw, chaotic mixture of hardcore and sludge, expression of pure brutality.
Diveder from Long Island, New York, USA blending the raw punk emergency with filthy hardcore brutality and the result is a modern, groovy, explosive metal. This sounds like the future of hardcore. “Gaia” is already an anthematic track and looking forward to listen into “Halios Geron” as well. Diveder introduce Chris Tzompanakis behind the mic, best known for his work with the influential group Skycamefalling in the early 2000’s.
Plebeian Grandstand from Toulouse, France will ripping off your head and destroy your loudspeakers instantly. Extreme, brutal, noisy and explosive, these guys promised to don’t leave survivors left behind and well, they are not joking.
