Stripped to the core, this is hardfuckingcore with heavy riffs, high-level fury and explosive, unleashed energy. Pantera/Machine Head like groove metal collide with Biohazard/Sick Of It All hardcore and the result is quite convincing. This is nothing, but “mosh’n’roll”, pure, pumping metalcore without any useless ornament, senseless sophism, just kick ass themes, cutting riffs and raw vocals.
Formed in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA, in 2001, as a side project of the band Hamartia featuring Brendan “Slim†MacDonald – guitar and Mark Castillo – drums and recorded and released their debut album titled “You Had Me At Hello” in March 2002. After several tours, the band break up for a few month, but bass player Rich Casey re-unite Slim, Mark and they bring to the microphone Mat Bruso.

They said “Too Hardcore for the Metal kids .. and Too Metal for the Hardcore Kids” and this band from Glasgow, Scotland, UK sounds just like – in the most positive sense – any other furious gang from Brooklyn, especially they reminds me of Biohazard. Actually I was afraid of some cheap Metallica copy, you know – “Die by my hand, I creep across the land, Killing first-born man”, but it’s not the case, their 90’s crossover it’s just fucking great, they have groovy riffs, deep growling basses, pounding drums and raw vocals, it’s just bloody nice that they don’t have clean – pussy – vocals and don’t shoot the same boring screamo/metalcore cliches, By My Hands it’s nothing about, but rage and pure unleashed energy. The Bunny The Bear – If You Don’t Have Anything Nice To Say (2011)
I’ve got only and exclusively nice things to say (write) about this album. Erik Kogut and Amber Kogut – guitars, Matthew Tybor – The Bunny and Chris Hutka – The Bear – vocals, Derek Anthony – bass and Brian Dietz – drums are draws from many quite different genres of music including extremes such as electro-pop and death metal to deliver their own and quite unique blending of post-hardcore/metal.
It’s true, there some other bands as well tried to merge dance music with metalcore, but these guys from Buffalo, NY, managed to create a striking, fresh and catchy blending of these styles.

Jasta – Jasta (2011)
Jamey Jasta (born James Shanahan) best known as the lead vocalist of Hatebreed and Kingdom of Sorrow, owner of Stillborn Records, and also the “rock themed apparel” line called Hatewear, released his first solo album featuring guest appearances by Phil Labonte from All That Remains, D. Randall Blythe and Mark Morton from Lamb of God, Tim Lambesis from As I Lay Dying, Zakk Wylde and Mike Vallely, and the album will be released on July 26th, 2011 via eOne Music and Century Media.

Tess – St. Charles – DVD Data Discography (2011)
32 titles, 46 videos, 1375 photos – “St. Charles” is the collected retrospective of this French band formed in 2006 and by two new, previously unreleased songs, it’s also a looking into the future. After a first EP entitled “D’un battement d’ailes” (Of a beating of wings) released in April, 2006, it is in April, 2008 that the band delivers its first album, “La dame de Coeur” (The Queen of Hearts) recorded by Yann Klimezyk ( MyPollux). In summer, 2009, Tess records his second album, more aggressive than never, definitively more in a post-hardcore mood, “Les autres” (The Others).

Ringworm – Scars (2011)
Formed in Cleveland, Ohio, back in 1991, Ringworm delivering powerful, straight, good-old-fashioned Hardcore with scratching (Thrash) Metal inputs, reminding me the classy sound of Biohazard up-lifted with some tasty Pantera strength, being classy and modern, cutting simultaneously. “Scars” is filled up with powerful riffs, pounding drums, anger and murderous grooves. The current line up consist of Human Furnace – vocals, Matt Sorg and John Comprix – guitars, Danny Zink – drums and Mike Lare – bass/vocals while vocalist Human Furnace also plays in Gluttons, and his solo project Holyghost.
Released on July 19, 2011 “Scars” is their third product for Victory Records and already seems to be a classic, all those straight and strong, groovy and cutting riffs and pumping basses, crushing drums have both in their vein that retro taste, but still sounds fresh, electrifying. Pariso – Sooner Insignificant Better (2011)
Not Betty, but only Pariso, still pretty musculus. Based primarially in London, Pariso formed early in 2009 under the moniker of Betty Pariso, released a split 7″ with the now defunct Manuscripts same year in July. Still going by the name Betty Pariso the band played a whole string of shows and it wasn’t long before another recording session was under their belts – a split cassette with We’ll Die Smiling. Drummer Tom decided in Easter 2010 that he was going to leave the band to concentrate on his now successful clothing line King Noir. Following Tom’s departure and a couple of months off, the band halved their name and found Alisdair whose drumming style solidified Pariso’s sound. A few old un-recorded tracks and some new ones written with Alisdair found their way onto the “Sooner Insignificant Better” 7″ which was released in January 2011 and is the first under the new name: Pariso. Stellardrive – ERS-4 Speak, Memory (2010)
Built upon post-rock/post-hardcore structures, Stellardrive juggling between heavy and noisy elements and quieter, smoother, but pretty gloomy moments. If life is a labyrinth and we should have a musical background for it, well, this might be one of the proper options.
Stellardrive is an instrumental quintet from from Besançon, France created in 2005. The band initiated the ERS series in 2005, with two EPs “ERS-1” in 2005 and “ERS-2” in 2007 (digital releases), grouped on their first physical release “Omega Point” (Le Sonotone Rec., Impure Muzik, Inter-Over, Believe) in 2007. The third EP “ERS-3: ECOTONE”, both physical and digital released, was out in 2008. “ERS-4 Speak, Memory” was released in September 2010 and continue the exploration of the boundaries of the music delivering another beautiful piece of their music puzzle. Breaking The Day – Survived By None (2011)
Atmospheric and ravishing, “Survived By None”, the twelve tracks debut release of the British Breaking The Day will grind you to the ground. With roots back to raw black metal, but with extreme and modern, sometimes quite experimental metal in their veins, BTD find their quite unique path to explore the darkest and contorted borders of nowadays metal/post-hardcore area of music. Brutal, but expressive, gloomy, but beautiful, “Survived By None” is an astonishing panorama of apocalypse, an end not of the race or the species, but of the man and his alienated soul.
