Karnak Seti – In Harmonic Entropy (2012)

Metaaaal!! Straight, powerful, merging the modern sound with classic, traditional approach, emerging from the exotic Madeira Island in Portugal, Karnak Seti present themselves as a solid, modern and persevering metal act.
With 10 years existence several releases, including the thriving full length “Scars of your decay” of 2009 distributed worldwide by the British Casket Music, “In Harmonic Entropy” is the band sophomore and looking further album including 9 killer Metal tracks.
For this album the band worked with renowned producer Daniel Cardoso at the UltrasoundStudios Braga. The process of composition of “In Harmonic Entropy” started in mid-2010, and the band splitting time between the promotion of the album “Scars of Your Decay” and writing the new material. The recording session took place during two weeks in April 2011. The cover of the album is the artwork of Ana Gomes.

“Long Gone Shadow” is an absolute classic with solid roots back to the 80’s Metal, still, sounds fresh and flesh ripping. “Only Red Mist Descends” have a definitively Fear Factory like layering and sounds like a perfect merging of Thrash with Death spiced Industrial. “Loss” keeps us in the same modern, contorted area of intensity while “Among the Sleepless” is another more traditional, but extremely heavy take with Thrash Metal veins and murderous riffs. “Golden Age of Downfalls” pounding further combining technical, powerful moments with slower, grinding moments, this apocalyptic song reminds me of bands such as Kreator and the Golden Age of Metal. “Luctor et Emergo” seems even more traditional, it’s another fast, merciless Thrash-rooted assault, the cutting, but melodious riffs are totally kings! “Stranded by Existence” is one of the most complex song of the album, an epic, over 7 minutes journey through darkness and heaviness. “Figureless Icons” speeding up a little bit, the classy taste is strong, having a kind of Megadeth feel. “Collateral Dreams” was the first song recorded for their second demo “Collateral Dreams” back in 2005, they re-recorded it for the “Stranded by Existence” demo again in 2007 but the song still never got the production what the band felt it really deserved. The song has been a personal favorite of A. Jesus and of many fans making the song a great way to end the live show and now, after 7 years it finally have the production it deserves. Over 8 minutes long, complex and progressive, an absolute Metal classic and excellent way to close the album.

“Salvation. Not coming your way.
Endless hours aimlessly drifting.
I close your eyes if you stop breathing tonight
Rest among the sleepless suns”
(Among the Sleepless)
