Basement – I Wish I Could Stay Here (2011)

Basement. Don’t matter what others may say, I really don’t give a shit about, believe me, I think it’s pretty dumb to name your band with a one – common – word. The world really gonna mad, every fucking single day independently or through one of the few trillion labels, a few trillion albums are released. I quite believe: everybody’s singing, nobody’s listening (and care). And very few are actually interested in buying something. So, if you name your band as probably at least a few others already did and some few will name their own a few minutes later, you’re just increasing your chances to stay unnoticed. Not to say that if somebody will try to “googling” you, there’s absolutely no way to find you. “Cloudy Basement”, “Burning Basement”, “Bass-ment”, fuck knows, but try to figure out something.
The very next issue is: “Basement? Oh, that guys sound just like Title Fight…”

Basement – Crickets Throw Their Voice by RockSoundMagazine

Still, “I Wish I Could Stay Here” is quite a good nowadays punk rock with some early Nirvana after-taste. And well, comparisons with both Title Fight and Nirvana are not such a bad thing.
Ipswich, UK-based Basement are delivered their debut, full-length album and it’s a pulsing, high-energy alternative punk rock material, they have a few catchy riffs, some nice choruses and generally speaking, it’s a nice listening. Still, sometimes the whole stuff gets kind of colourless, faded and after spinning around the whole record it’s pretty hard to remember anything.
“Fading”, “Grayscale”, “Crickets Throw Their Voices” and “Early Gray” – one of the more inspired lyrical moments – are alright and in a few years Basement might grew up and deliver some more interesting products. As first step they get away from the “emo” tag, and it’s good. Hope not to get in the endless line of “metalcore” bands. Anyway, I heard a few much worster records last couple of years and they might become batter.
Basement will be traveling stateside for respective tours this August with Such Gold and Daylight. The tour will kick off in Buffalo, NY on August 9th, head out west to Fucking Awesome Fest in Detroit and then make it’s way back East to the coast before heading north to New England. The tour will wrap up in Wilkes-Barre, PA on August 28th and is being presented by Property Of Zack.
