Formally known as Le Baron Vampire, Abraham was formed in 2007 around members of metal acts Kruger and Nabokoff. Abraham is a post-hardcore quintet from Lausanne, Switzerland and they recently singed to Pelagic Records and making their debut with this dark and heavy album called “An Eye On the Universe”. Abrasive and heavy, tenebrous and cloudy, Abraham bring to the surface a contorted universe, they shifting from dark and intense moments to mysterious and spacier passages, but maintaining permanently the tension, the gloomy atmosphere. Shreds of light sometimes comes through the cracks of the crushing themes they construct and that brings color and interesting shades into their music.
Renzo Especial have a howling, death/hardcore style voice, guitarists Jakkob Wierdmann and Matostab Axwielder brings crushing riffs and shattered semi-acoustic moments, the bass of Valentino DiCabillo pulsing threatening and drummer Dave Schlagmeister keeps things together, bring the balance into this dark universe their create. Complex themes as “Astro Zombies” for example lead Abraham in a progressive, post modern area of the music and the intense parts overlapping the progressive/psychedelic sounds like moments and some clean vocals bring more color to it. “An Eye On The Universe” is a promising album from a promising new name from the metal scene. Since Thomas Gabriel Fischer’s Triptykon I didn’t heard something intense like this from the land of 26 cantons.
