After the international break-through of Orphaned Land, the Israeli heavy metal scene delivered another exciting progressive metal act.
Gevolt was formed in 2001 by Anatholy Bonder (vocals), Yevgeny Kushnir (guitars), Oleg Szhumsky (drums) and Max Mann (bass guitars). The current line-up consist of: Anatholy Bonder (vocals), Michael Gimmervert (guitar), Eva Iframov (violin), Dmitry Lifshitz (synthesizers), Mark Lekhovitser (bass) and Vadim Weinstein (drums).
Gevolt started recording their second album in 2005 and in 2007 released single Yiddish Metal, as promo package, that contained 2 tracks. Recordings were took place in several studios: Muzikansky Records (Ashdod), Tsolelet Record Studio (Tel Aviv), Soundroll Studio (Givataim) and were finalized in 2010.
“AlefBase” and its 13 tracks are an exciting journey into modern metal with roots both to the Neue Deutsche Härtethe (Rammstein, Oomph!, Umbra et Imago, Eisbrecher, etc) and to Yiddish and Russian traditional music, an extremely exciting and creative mixture of metal, industrial and classic music elements with folk and traditional roots.
Strong and beautiful, heavy and colourful, “AlefBase” is an excellent modern, progressive metal album.
Something quite unique, must listen and must have.
