Dark metal could not get darker and further into the hidden and tenebrous conscience and sub-conscience of the sick and twisted human soul and mind.
“The Purging” continues where the critically acclaimed and Manifest Award nominated debut album, “The Tunnels” left off in 2011. Eventually this is going more wicked and gloomy that its predecessor.
Terra Tenebrosa it’s definitively one of the most experimental and most bold metal acts of Sweden, but also one of the most interesting avant-garde acts that pushing the envelope and widening the horizon. Not an easy listening, not really friendly and definitively not for everybody, but once you get into the atmosphere of it, reveals unexpected dimensions and colors.
Both CD and vinyl were released on the 22nd February 2013 and Terra Tenebrosa will begin performing also live in 2013, so, this will be another quite exciting year for their fans!

With some strange sell of noises and a grinding riff in the background, “The Redeeming Teratoma” feels like opening a secret passage to an even darker world then ours. Can you imagine that?
“The Compression Chamber” kicks in with a razor-blade sharp riff and the industrial flavoured, monotonously pounding drums, feels like a forced marched through the just opened gates of Hell, even Cuckoo’s demonic vocals and screams makes the blood frozen in your veins. Creepy feeling throughout, but this is so Terra Tenebrosa and I just realized that I missed this special own kind of Hell so much!
“Black Pearl In A Crystalline Shell” speeding up a little, the discordant riffs and desperate screams then a fearful breakdown of silence make this one of the real pears of the new album. Probably the best track of the second Terra Tenebrosa installment, a truly hellish massacre with a slow grinding, obsessive closing part.
“House Of Flesh” not really let you breathing, it’s grinding throughout wickedly and the strong riffs, deadly vocals and chaotic pounding turns this into a killer weapon.
“The Nucleus Turbine” it’s a cinematic, mysteriously layered experimental trip filled with low drone noises. The whole track feels and sounds like a corridor to Hell where on both sides are alined all the devils and they are whispering and moaning while we’re getting through. Kind of freaky.
“The Purging” bring back some genuine black metal feel. The sound it’s very raw, this is a faster, more chaotic track build upon a wicked guitar riff. Truly tenebrous!
“Terra Tenebrosa” it’s build upon a very solid riff and a strange sounding organ. Cuckoo’s vocals lead us into the hypnotic vibe of the black mass.
“At The Foot Of The Tree” it’s another drone flavoured ambiental trip with a dark metallic thud echoing throughout.
“Disintegration” brings to the surface another slow grinding, addictive black metal ride with that unpolished, furious sound. The silent break down at the middle feels like a shred of hope, but then again the hell breaks loose and the riff will grind you down. Surprisingly, it’s something very harmonious, musical, almost touchy behind this brutal chaos. Ending abrupt, only let you breathless and with the urge of more.
“The Reave” brings back the opening riffs and with those strange swell of noises this time close the passage.
