I’m gonna handle this one backwards: “The Last Watchman”, the closing track of this EP, it’s a beautiful, shining, Progressive Rock song with a friendly, warm vibe. Somehow it sticks in your head and can’t get rid of it.
Now I’m gonna get back to the beginning and I tell ya a secret: you can download for free this EP from the band’s Bandcamp page.
From Moscow, Russia, Cosmonauts Day delivered a quite unique mixture of post-rock, stoner/sludge metal and space/progressive rock with some exotic aromas, original structures and harmonies.
Recorded live at studio 7 in Moscow, last 2010 by Chekan and Dima – guitars, drummer Nikita and Andres (Kamni, ex-Lord of Doubts) – bass, this four tracks shows maturity, excellent musical and instrumental skills and not at least extremely high live power performance abilities. The good themes, strong riffs, interesting shifts and breaks, changing of tones and moods, the perfect flow and intense groove with the intense performance are the two solid pillars which are the foundation of any great band.
Smart arrangements, intelligent song structures and constructions, inspired shifting and breaks, excellent riffs and nice harmonies, Cosmonauts Day is a name to remember and one band to follow.
Meanwhile bass player Andres was replaced by Krasen and if this is “only” a demo, I’m looking forward to listen to the whole album.
