Something is rotten in the European Union and the UK

I’m a non-believer and unreligious person. Sceptical if I may say. I have to know, and I dig out every possible piece of evidence regarding any specific topic I’m interested in.
Especially in the realm of religion, but believing in something in general is an emotional matter — an unconditional and asks-no-questions type of relationship. I question everything and ask numerous questions.
Roger Waters’ words from “Mother” stuck with me: “Mother, should I trust the government?”
Growing up in Romania under a pseudo-communist dictatorial regime, Mr Waters’ words meant probably a whole lot more. We survived, hoping that Western democracy is different.
Unfortunately, everything that happened after 1989 and the fall of the Berlin Wall revealed that there is no difference between Western and Eastern propaganda, and things only get worse by the hour.
The recent global pandemic has proven that we should not trust authorities, and my past three decades of research have confirmed that many things we have been taught or told are inaccurate, incomplete, or incorrect. As one of my favourite authors, Lloyd Pye, pointed out, everything we know is wrong. Perhaps not everything, but most of it, definitely.

Europe has fallen. What’s happening all over most of Europe is a tragedy and the beginning of the end of Western civilisation. Alarmingly, most Europeans are still sleeping and living in a dream.
However, that is a large topic, perhaps for another time.

Ursula von der Leyen, the serving president of the European Commission since 2019, proposed a “new Digital Services Act” in her 2019 bid for the European Commission’s presidency. The stated aim of the DSA was to update the European Union’s legal framework for illegal content on intermediaries, particularly by modernising the e-Commerce Directive, which was adopted in 2000. The DSA is allegedly intended to “govern the content moderation practices of social media platforms” and tackle illegal content and disinformation. In reality, the DSA functions as a censorship tool to silence any unwanted voice.
The General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), commonly referred to as the GDPR, is a European Union regulation governing information privacy within the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). The GDPR is a crucial component of EU privacy law and human rights law, particularly Article 8(1) of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. It also governs the transfer of personal data outside the EU and EEA.

Although I am not a Christian, I believe in and support the principle of religious freedom. Christianity is a critical part of the European culture and civilisation.
Although I am not a Christian, the nature of my esoteric work often requires me to research the Bible.
My favourite online resource for Bible study is BibleGateway.com.
However, the site is no longer accessible from the EU and UK.

According to ChatGPT, Bible Gateway has issued a statement saying that its services are unavailable in the UK and EU due to “technical issues.”
They say paid “Bible Gateway Plus” account holders in those regions should receive refunds by ~15 September 2025.
Also, saved account data (notes, highlights, reading progress) will no longer be accessible.
Their support/policy pages explicitly note data protection laws such as the EU GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). For example, the app is “currently inaccessible … in countries under GDPR restrictions … within the European Union and United Kingdom.”
It’s uncertain whether the obstacle is purely technical (e.g. infrastructure, localisation, compliance) or involves licensing, contractual or commercial issues.
The company states that it is working on a “new solution,” but has not provided a timeline for when services in Europe/UK will be restored.

The lack of a clear explanation raises numerous questions.

Fortunately, using a VPN with an American virtual address, I can still access BibleGateway.com.
For now.
Darker clouds are coming. Sleep tight.
