Atomik Clocks Death Funk EP 2016 Atomik Clocks it’s a jazzcore band from Firenze, Italy. They are pushing the so-called envelope over the edge to widens the unexplored borders of music.
Some people make music because they need to express their feelings and thoughts, some people make music for fortune and fame. Sometimes this two things are come together, sometimes not.
Art is not always audience friendly. And this is just cool.
Atomik Clocks makes music, they give artistic expression to their untainted feelings.
They made some giant steps forward since their previous release. “Death Funk” kind of reminds me of Frank Zappa.
It’s vivid, bold and have a good sense of humor. (more…)

eyeswithoutaface Dead Friends EP 2015 Released on 11 July 2015, the new EP from the Canadian project eyeswithoutaface brings brutality to the next level. Their rough and contorted mixture of post-industrial electronics with sludge/black/death metal leave the listener without any option, but to love or hate this sonic slaughter. Extreme metal at its best!! Related to Malhavoc, Godflesh and other alike oddities, eyeswithoutaface was formed in 2009 in Toronto, Canada, comprised of current members of Homolka, Kosmograd, John XII, Ancress and more.
They avowed that they are “somewhat inspired by a broad range of artists both within and outside of the doom/sludge, post-industrial, electronic and hip hop genres, and are sometimes compared to artists such as Godflesh, Nine Inch Nails, Swans, Red Harvest and Genghis Tron.”
And their music it’s quite complex and disturbing. I wrote about their debut album “Monotoneoteny” back in 2011 and they made it to my list of favorite releases of the year. They have something of their own and they explore musical places where nobody else dared to drift before. Sometimes this make the journey difficult, but keep it exciting throughout. (more…)

Meredith - Meredith III, EP (2015) Guitarist/singer Fred Lefranc and drummer Ben Delacroix are back with their third installment, a four track EP.
The previus EP, released last year “The Shape Of Things To Come” was an intense, modern mixture of alternative rock and metal with roots back to grunge and garage/noise rock. Now they sound more consolidated, mature if you prefer. The raw fury is there, but it got a polished make-up now which don’t mean they get any softer. The two guys managed to create a complex and intense music and surprisingly they filled up the spaces smartly, everything it’s nicely balanced. Rebels with cause – if you know what I mean.
I always liked about Meredith that they sound passionate and personal, they open up honestly and sometimes bring up unpleasant subjects like abuses or domestic violence with fair simplicity. Can’t fix issues if we refuse to step up and speak up. (more…)

Skid Row - Rise Of The Damnation Army - United World Rebellion Chapter Two [EP] (2014) Skid Row are back again. And “We Are The Damned” it’s a kick-ass rock’n’roll anthem, one of the best Skid Row songs they ever delivered. It’s irresistible and unstoppable. As rock music should be. The rest of the EP it’s composed of 3 more rocking heavy metal flavored songs, a quite forgettable balled and 2 solid rock covers: Queens’s “Sheer Heart Attack”, and the Aerosmith’s classic “Rats In The Cellar”. Except the 2 covers, the build-up of this EP it’s similar with the last year released “Chapter One” EP.
This is a solid, enjoyable, American heavy metal release, but I’m not sure if it’s good enough to bring back Skid Row to where they belong, at the top of the rock. If back in ’96 opening for Kiss felt to Rachel Bolan unacceptable and finally lead to fire Sebastian Bach, the guys now opening in Europe for Saxon, a good, but mediocre British heavy metal band.
Solinger it’s for 15 years now the lead singer of Skid Row and he’s doing a really fine job, no use to wait for Bach to come back, but enjoy this fine piece of American rock release. (more…)

OK Go – Upside Out (2014) “Hungry Ghosts”, the first new OK Go studio album in four years, drops in October, but the waiting it’s almost over and till the new album, we’ve got a 4 track EP to hang on to. It were quite long 4 years, OK Go and their fabulous third album, “Of the Blue Colour of the Sky” made me re-evaluate the indie/alternative rock scene and it’s still one of my all time favorites albums. I just can not delete it from my mp3 player. It’s like Led Zeppelin “III”.
Anyway, if you’re anxious, you can contribute to their Pledge campaign of fund raising for the production of the new album.
Meanwhile we had a cute Extra Nice Edition on double CD, a live album (180/365, 2011), The Compleat 12 Months of (Rare, Unreleased) OK Go and a few killer videos. And while I just mentioned their incredible videos, they delivered a new one: “The Writing’s On the Wall”, so, let’s take a look! (more…)

Belzebass - Welcome To Hell Belzebass it’s a clubcore duo from Italy, and they delivering some extreme, aggressive s*it, be precocious, it can seriously harm your speakers and through them your ears and finally your brain may get fried. While the mainstream EDM scene is pretty boring, the underground definitively have its revenge! Hardcore take no prisoners!
The 2 guys with roots back to the hardcore and death metal scene like to produce and mix what they like: wicked beats, fat basses, rough synths, pig squeals all mashed with twisted off, dark atmospheres.
“Welcome To Hell” it’s their upcoming EP consist of three sick tracks and scheduled to (more…)

Meredith The Shape Of EP 2014 I tried to dig out some background info about this French band, but I didn’t find too much and the few things I found were in French, not a language I know. Guitarist/singer Fred Lefranc sent me a link to their teaser last December, meanwhile the 5 track EP was officially released. Unfortunately they don’t have a video yet, but fortunately, they put it on-line on the Bandcamp. (While Spotify in some countries it’s not available, on Deezer if you don’t have account, can only listen 30 seconds of each song and not everybody it’s iPhone addicted and have the iTunes applications instaled… So, for promotional purposes YouTube, SoundCloud and Bandcamp are still the best free options available. MySpace it’s a… dead space. 😆 )
Although, most of the people don’t even bother to step outside Facebook lately, so, music it’s doomed just as the whole goddamn human race!
But let’s see what Meredith propose us!
The sound of things to come it’s solid, intense, modern, alternative rock/metal. (more…)

Cairoglyphs The Veil EP 2014 Hip hop it’s not actually my cup of tea, but once in a while I’m listening some hip hop as well, have a few favorites and I can appreciate the quality in any genre and style. Cairoglyphs have a cool Oriental/middle East flavor, but the Kansas City based hip-hop artist/producer Ryan Forest merged quite different sounds and styles from dense electronic layers to rap, and from dark, deep house constructions to pounding hip hop beats. Kind of past meets the future, highly danceable, very fluorescent type of music. Dark dance music with content. While IDM and EDM are simply dead labels drained by any meaning and content lately, Ryan Forest proves that the dance music might still have future.
“The Veil”, Ryan Forest debut EP has just been released on Russian Winter Records and by the kindness of the record label we got one, exclusive free track for download, a pretty cool teaser to make you buy the EP. (more…)

Panzanellas Aggression EP 2013 Panzanella or panmolle is a Tuscan salad of bread and tomatoes popular in the summer. It includes chunks of soaked stale bread and tomatoes, sometimes also onions and basil, dressed with olive oil and vinegar. It is also popular in other parts of central Italy, but also around the world.
The concept behind Panzanellas is quite simple: just with an act of violence it is possible to conquer freedom, so they start to kill men and animals conquering their own freedom.
Two brand new tracks on the band’s second EP, the same sonic aggression, Panzanellas are grinding on the borderline between free jazz and avant-garde/experimental rock. Heavy beats, contorted and twisted out guitars with tumultuous, crazy saxophone solos throughout. They came in, kill’em all and leave. Pure madness or killer efficiency. No use to compare it with any other band, this is just Panzanellas. And it’s quite alright, we need this kind of out of the box trips and although some will probably label it as a slaughter, this is still much more exciting then most of the prefabricated, plastic and predictable “music” these days. Do yourself a favor, give it 5 minutes from your boring life and get yourself a fair share of aggression and eventually, a broken nose!! (more…)

Thot - Citizen Pain Ep I can think of and go back to several different stories. First of all, reminds me of the story of Cain and Able, the two sons of Adam and Eve. Cain was the first human born and Abel was the first human to die while Cain committed the first murder by killing his brother. On the other hand, directed by Orson Welles release on 5 September 1941, “Citizen Kane” was a drama which explored the life and legacy of the publishing tycoon Charles Foster Kane, played by Welles. Nothing of this are directly related to the latest Thot EP, but then again, everything in this world is somehow related and inter-connected. “Citizen Pain” is in particularly nobody, but he’s everybody and anybody, one of us and each one of us. Even the pain became meaningless nowadays. Or we became insensitive to the suffering of the others… and get comfortable with our own misery. (more…)
