Body Parts, Live Breath Art

UK-based artist Bronia Sawyer has always found art to be a means by which she could control and manipulate her world and her surroundings. From a very young age, Sawyer expressed herself through her creativity, later saying, “For me creativity and imagination go hand in hand.” Body Parts, Live Breath Art is a series of sculptures in which the artist took pages and pages of recycled books and transformed them into spiraling, abstract impressions of body parts. The 7 Deadly Sins 1 Greed

The seven deadly sins, also known as the capital vices or cardinal sins, is a grouping and classification of vices of Christian origin. Behaviors or habits are classified under this category if they directly give birth to other immoralities. According to the standard list, they are pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth, which are also contrary to the seven virtues. These sins are often thought to be abuses or excessive versions of one’s natural faculties or passions (for example, gluttony abuses one’s desire to eat). (more…)

For almost every day last month Malaysian artist/architect Hong Yi (who often goes by the nickname Red) created a fun illustration made with common (and occasionally not so common) food. Her parameters were simple: the image had to be comprised entirely of food and the only backdrop could be a white plate. With that in mind Yi set out to create landscapes, animals, homages to pop culture, and even a multi-frame telling of the three little pigs. The project, which still appears to be ongoing, has been documented heavily around the web.

Meet graphic designer and illustrator Josh Ln.
His geeky illustrations impress us everytime, at this case, though, one thing is for sure: we will never look at the Egyptian hieroglyphs on the same way. Ln created a series of ‘hero-glyphics’, where he ‘married’ world famous super-heroes with ancient history – and the results are amazing!

“Big Trash Animals is a series of artworks that aims to draw attention to a current problem that is likely to be forgotten, become trivial or a necessary evil. The problem involves waste production, materials that are not reused, pollution and its effect on the planet. The idea is to depict nature itself, in this case, animals, out of materials that are responsible for its destruction.”

James Corbett takes used card parts and, using them like pieces in a puzzle, creates amazing steampunk sculptures.
Corbett showed artistic talent ever since he was a little boy. Colleagues at his Redcliff school would always tell him he’d grow up to be an artist. But, at 36 years old James was running a motor wrecking business. That’s when he started welding together a bunch of car parts and awakened the dormant talent inside. In just 18 months he closed his wrecking business and became a full-time artist.
James Corbet says he makes these original sculptures because he can and it would be a shame to waste his God-given talent. The Car Part Sculptor has exhibited his works in galleries all across the world.
