Brutal Truth – End Time (2011)

Painful and consistent. I can’t really imagine any other band 100% entitled to delivering the soundtrack of the “end times” than Brutal Truth. Formed by ex-Anthrax, Nuclear Assault, and Stormtroopers Of Death bass guitarist Dan Lilker in 1990, in New York City, Brutal Truth along Napalm Death were one of the leading grindcore bands, delivering extreme – and obviously – brutal metal. The group disbanded in 1999 after four studio albums, but reformed in 2006 and delivered in 2009 “Evolution Through Revolution”. “End Time”, the band sixth studio album will be released on September 27, 2011 by Relapse Records. The band have also made the entire album available for via streaming from their website and as the official release note said: “End Time packs shotgun blast-sized impact throughout its 21 track take down of civilization’s imminent implosion.”

Surprisingly, “End Time” starts with an extremely slow grinding, the “Malice”, which last over three minutes. It’s a contorted, sick tune. The following “Simple Math” bring back the “good-old” ear-shredding extremes in only one and half minute. “End Time” is also a short, killer one with a memorable cutting riff and mad grindings while the very next “Fuck Cancer” is 58 seconds of pure butchery which reminds me of S.O.D.’s classic whiplash-like strikings. No fan will be dissapointed by the new colllection of massacres, Kevin Sharp – vocals, Erik Burke – guitar, Dan Lilker – bass guitar, backing vocals and drummer Richard Hoak delivered an excellent album juggling between the most brutal grindings and modern, but quite contorted metal constructions. There are a few more surprises hidden on the album, you must discover them by yourself.
